Projects Progress on the 57 Chevy Sedan Delivery

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by oldfart, Nov 12, 2009.

  1. I havent posted for a while. The 1st few pictures are of the SD when I first got it home.A lot of you guys will remember it.
I bought an 84 Caprice w/a 305 & 700R4 and put the motor & trans in the car.I took a ride in the 84 before I bought it to make sure that the motor & trans did what it was supposed to do.Why a 305 & not a 350?$350 for the complete car..
I didnt have the extra $$ for a small cap distributor so I cut a hole in the firewall so the old one would fit.I've always liked the radius wheel look on the 55 Nomad so I radiused the rear wheelwells using 1/2" fuel line to accomplish the "bump out"on the top.
The paint is rustoleum & I am trying to make it look decent. The price is right:D
I kept the metal from the wheelwells and firewall so the next owner can weld these parts back in if he/she wants to.
Its still a long ways from being on the road but its gettin there.

  3. I'm sorry I have to say it: you do know you painted your car pink and yellow, right? I mean, you're not color blind or anything, you really meant to?

It's your car: do what you like, but oof!

If that looks pink to you, it might be time for a new monitor.

I'm Normally the last one to piss on anyone's chips, but god that looks horrible....

  6. Flat black would be a good choice on that car I think. The yellow really doesn't suit it.

I didn't read anywhere in Oldfarts post that he was asking for opinions on his color choice...nor on his build...he was merely showing it off...He likes it...that's all that's important...WHY is it that HAMBers insist on ruining a perfectly good day with their ****py opinion...if you don't like the man's car, keep it to yourself...!!!

when i started doing my impala it was a real mystery to alot of the guys I hang around with. Now, it gets lots of attention and seems to fit me, so go ahead with your crazy paint scheme and cardboard looking windows. You be you.

  11. When someone posts pictures on the HAMB they have to be prepared for criticism: contructive or otherwise. There have been times in my life where I wished someone would have said to me: "hey man: you may want to reconsider your choice, it's just not working from my perspective." I'm sure Oldfarts is a big fella and can stick up for himself and his ride if he wants to. I'm not out to ruin anyone's day and I usually try very hard not to criticize someone else's ride if I don't like it, But it is a very odd combination for a car that I personally believe deserves much better than a two tone yellow and pink, orange, red, corral...whatever that other color is rustoleum job. I'll go back to looking at stuff I prefer now.
