I am putting a Buick V-6 turbo in a '28 Es***. What's the chance of a frame mount for these engine mounts? has any one fabricated theses or have a drawing? Help!! Lot's of stuff for a SBC :-( . Thanks Dan dlmarx@bellsouth.net
usually you can just use the factory mounts for the engine, and make something that will fill in the empty space between them and the frame. Just normal hot rod design/fabrication. And for something like a v6 in an es***, you gonna have to get good at design/fabrication!
Should be simple simon. Get factory mounts, bolt them to the block, hang it between the frame rails, then you'll see what needs to be done to get to the frame from there. Plenty of room in there and a simple ladder frame makes the early Es***/Hudson cars pretty simple to modify. The frames were favorites of the old racers because they were stiff and easily modified.
Maybe a bit of a long shot, but you might try to check out conversion motor mounts for an early Jeep. The Buick V6 used to be a pretty popular conversion. But beware: most of the mounts I've seen aren't very slick looking- if that's a concern.
I'm using a V-6 Buck Oddfire..same black I think as you have..I bought new motor mounts On Ebay..then I bought a engine cross member from Speedway...they sell a crossmember tubing for that block..got mine the other day fits great with the new mounts...it's not a factory mount..
