As I begin to reflect on my year as I always do this time in November, I want to send out my annual offering for Turkey Day. If there are any HAMBers that dont have anyone to spend Thanksgiving with , and/or will be in the area of Boston, MA -you are most welcome at my home for dinner. We get one hell of a turkey and fixings around here (Dana actually cooks a pretty good holiday meal) and usually a day filled with silliness, wine and fun. PM me if you want to come by and spend time with us. Its a way I can give back to all who would otherwise be alone- which , as long as I am around, I dont want to happen if I can make a difference. Happy early Thanksgiving to all.
That's a hell of a deal. Nice to see some "Good people" are still around in this crazy world of ours. Good luck on your dinner and hope you get some takers.
Excellent gesture! In these commercial holiday times, it's a gift from the heart that can truely bring joy in the holiday season.
Thats a cool deal, We do something like this every year as well. I'm glad that there are good people.
Lenny in today's trend of me first you truly stand out as a hero. You and your wife are special. Have a great day and be silly and eat and be merry! I will be thinking of you guys as we sit down with our family that day.
gee- thanks. Thats pretty humbling- I appreciate it. I just hate to hear about people who are good souls who end up with the Swanson frozen dinner in front of the TV. I may not have much- but I can give what I got.... Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving as well.
Did I mention my mom still makes homemade cranberry sauce and a to die for dessert cookie called mandlebread?!
You, Sir are a gem. Holiday blessings to you and your wonderful wife. A family tradition for me is a swanson "family" pack of turkey and gravy. Nobody eats it. but its allways there. Reason is, My Dad didnt like the bird on the table. We'd have the whole shebang and stupid swansons. 6 boys and swansons. Oddly, I miss that.
that is an awesome gesture,i am not fond of thanksgiving ,cause no matter where i go i am surronded by foot ball -foot ball -foot ball,i would give my left arm to spend thanksgiving with hot rodders!!
lol our house is actually a fairly football free zone- we arent into football and its OUR house- we win-the TV usually isnt on for any of the 'games'.
Very kewl and ya never know, you may find a friend for life. I know it will mean a lot to someone. Happy Thanksgiing
I am trying to figure out what it would cost to drive my 58 Fairlane to your house and back for Thanksgiving. I already know the you two are great people so there has got to be some good cooking going on there also.
Awesome to see others taking in the strays... We do the same thing every year...smmetimes its wicked huge, and other times its just one additional person. The first year (and subsiquently the reason for the tradition) me and my wife were married I was still in military training....course there is alot of MILSPEC transients that are around so we coordinated a thanksgiving dinner around the watch bill so all my cl***mates could come. We ended up having 28 people show up for dinner, hell we even had instructors show up...we had three ovens crankin (other military families)...the funny part...we just moved into the apartment and only had one table and 4 chairs....the table was for the food (everyone brought something) and our church supplied additional chairs ( it wasnt enough though)...it was as simple as you could get. After dinner we sat around for hours telling stories bout our disfunctional families and thinkin bout the past... That was 15 years ago and I think one of my most favorite thanksgivings ever. Now days we usually only have our across the street neighbor over...she's older and single and all of her family is no longer around, no kids, never married. The first year we asked her to come over to thanksgiving dinner (4 years ago) she pretty much told us to go to hell...I bugged the **** outta her to come and she finally agreed... most likely to shut me up...every year it's gotten easier for us to get her to come over for Thanksgiving....this year she asked us when dinner was Makin progress I guess.... Welp in the spirit of CHOPSHOP, I put the same offer up as him (Sorry to steal your thread bub) My home is open to any transient stray hotrodders/Military that may be away from home on MILSPEC orders or spending time in Daytona for the Turkey run but will be in Jacksonville Florida. Happy T-giving yo Oh, My house is a football free environment as well....hell we dont even have cable!
