my father-in-law is big time into the Great Lakes lighthouses, and has even helped write several books on the subject. well he sent me this photo of an old light house with a couple of old cars in the lot and wanted my help in identifying, at least, the age of these old cars. i've givin him my best guess, but maybe some of you are more intimately familiar with one of these particular cars and could share your knowledge and insite into the exact year of said vehicles. thanks...
Mid to late forties on the fat car because of the square looking front fenders. Not 39-40 Ford because the back window isnt split. 34ish on the other car....make?
early forties just looking at the headlites on the 40 car. Lots of cars in that era never had split back windows. Nutz.
definetly early 40s on the fat car i would say, the other kinda looks like the 35 chevy sitting in our backyard-spare tire and all!
The first sedan is pre-1935 with those fenders. The second looks similar to a 41-48 Ford, but something just isn't right. It could even be a 40-42 Willys.

[/ QUOTE ] I know what your saying, thats why I said it wasnt 39-40 "FORD". I still say it`s mid to late forties even though the grill and lights look a little earlier. Maybe it`s a custom!! Profile looks like a Volvo, even though I`m sure it`s not. Nash had some of those wild lense light`s, so did Mopar...hard telling!?
kinda looks like a (gasp)!!! beetle on the left... the short distance between the rear window and the rear of the car...i dunno
[ QUOTE ] Fenders, grill and headlights look like a '39 Nash [/ QUOTE ] I said it looked like it could be a Nash, now that I see that 39 and see how square the fenders are it looks even more like one BUT, a 39 had split back gl***. My Dad used to have a 39 Nash Lafayette business coupe, nice cars but those lenses are hard to find!!
I'm gonna say '41 Plymouth for the car on the left. I had one as my first car. Kinda boxy fenders with marker/parking lights as part of headlight bezel, and the grill flaring slightly outward toward the center looks like my old one. Windshield is v-****ed in middle, too. See photo. Car is not mine... Came from carnut.com. Not sure on the other one. Jonnyhotrod
I agree with kritz. That rear bumper looks like a VW. That would make the photo no earlier than 1950 if it's Michigan...
Looks very much like a VW, until you look at how big it looks next to the other car when they are both in the same pic. Also the hood just doesn't look like it slopes down enough in the front, pic is pretty fuzzy. It ain't a Bug unless the other car is a Bantam.

[/ QUOTE ] that was my first thought too. the rear of it looks alot like a Bug in this pic but the front just is'nt right.
Being of a naturally su****ious nature, I say it's an intentionally fuzzed shot of model cars and was set up like a diorama. Shot looks to have been taken on april 4th of 2003.
