I am currently in Florida for the next 4 months or so, and I am thinking about shipping my 66 BSA Hornet from Seattle to Orlando. I don't have anyone at home who can get me the measurements of the bike, SO...
I need to know the overall length, width, and height, and weight of a typical stock British bike. I am thinking of shipping with Forward air, and I need to know what size shipping container to order.
I'll be in Seattle on the 22nd of this month, but I need to order a shipping container from them in advance.
    Thanks!

Just went out in the garage and measured my 1970 bsa...80" length...40" heighth...30" width....it isn't stock, but close enough that you could go a little bigger in height and width...I can't weigh it but 400 lbs will also be fairly close...if this doesnt work for you, try one of the british websites.

I have mine stored down at my folks house right now so I can't measure but the 400 +/- lbs should be about right if some coroboration helps.

Thanks guys. Anybody used any other sources to ship a bike cheaply???

  7. Forwardair is usually the cheapest. I have heard of a bike
    getting damaged by them,**** happens.
You must take the bike to their facilities at a major air
port.Rent a fibergl*** container from them, and you load the bike in it.They sale,or you can bring your own tie down
straps and pad lock.Load the bike, tie it down, and put your
lock on it.Mail key to recipenent, who must pick bike up at
    their local major airport.
Cost for shipping is about $300.

Give me a shout when it`s in Florida and we`ll go for a ride. If you don`t mind riding with a Triumph[IMG]
