.... or maybe it's a Model AA. I have known the guy forever and when I was a kid I remember using this truck to haul stuff around on his farm, back in the 70's. Anyway, the guy is retired and has started thinking about maybe putting this up for sale in the near future. He came to me with questions about how to sell it and what it might be worth. I thought first of the HAMB since I read this think quite a bit and you all seem like the best and most grounded bunch of hot rodders out there, but I had no idea what to tell him for price. I'm not sure if this is allowed, but can anyone suggest what this thing might be worth. It ran when last parked in that spot within the past 5 years or so I think. He thinks that it's a 1930 and I tend to agree from looking it over. The frame is excellent. The fenders have some dents, but no rust through. The rear lower cab needs some sheet metal repair, but for the most part the metal is solid and very nice. The bed is a wooden grain box. Has a clear ***le. Here's a photo and some links to several more. If you have any suggestions on what it might be worth (ball park), give me a yell (PM).
Sorry, got them downsized.... had no idea they were that big since my viewer altered them for me to fit on my screen.
Paul Ellis Ford Parts has a '30 cab & hood that are that good, with a new Brookville bed - priced at 5K. They aren't stuck off in BFE Iowa though. Paul's stuff is always high but he gets it out there & it gets seen.... & it sells. JH
It should be worth $4500 all day, but to sell an AA I ended up putting the cab on a regular A ch***is.
BFE is not Eastern IA, BFE is NEBRASKA. there is NOTHING out there lol.. I wish I had room or money to snag this iowa treasure and keep it local.
Around here that truck would be a $2500 unit. The cab, fenders, and hood fit a pickup-the rest doesn't unless you want that radiator shell. AA's aren't as expensive as other A's because they are not very easy to use "as is". Bad brakes, no power, long wheelbase, no tire/wheel interchange, etc. Unless you want a flatbed, in which case they work great with some new running gear.
Not a lot, but 2500$ sounds reasonable. The only one who would really pay that though is someone needing the drivetrain real bad. I had a buddy buy one for 300$ and it was pretty wasted from sitting on a farm in a sump for years. He only used the cab and it has serious rust through. He ran the damn rest through the crusher before I could save it. Many parts are still usable to restorers long after they are junk to us hotrodders. Might contact your local MAFCA club to see if anyone might need AA parts and then take the cab off as suggested and sell the roller to a restorer. Oh and its a 30 btw. Grille shell tells us all that.-Weeks
