On google search: United States Patent 3304125 Patent applied for in 1965 and granted in 1967. Patents are hard to read, but from what I understand, the patent deals with the method of attaching them to the wheels. or go here: http://www.google.com/patents?id=hJ...ook_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CA0Q6AEwAQ#
Del Met used to be a major aftermarket supplier to the used car industry from the 40's thru the 80's. Here in New England all the used car wholesalers used their metal trim rings and mickey mouse wheel covers to add onto vehicles that were originally equipped with dog food dish poverty caps or had bare wheels with no caps. By the mid 90's Del Met was tied up in law suits and faded away. Plastic covers from Taiwan became the new standard of the used car industry from that time onward.
