Alright I am trying to get my coupe back together before spring to be ready to drive but am having some serious issues. When i found the coupe it was off a frame without a cowl sitting next to a garage(which doesn't help make it any easier) But what i am having a problem with is the roof and front header. How does the sides of the roof stay down onto the wood? Mine must be way out of wack cause it is a pretty good stretch to get it to touch the wood and when i get it down there the side wants to push out. Does anyone have any ideas or know where there are some really good detailed assembly pictures? This is really starting to ruin my days having to mess with the same problem day after day with nothing to show. I know this is the place to find some help so please give me some advice. I will post a few pics of the car so far to see if anyone can spot the problem. Thanks for your time and I hope someone can help.

  2. I'd like to see some detailed drawings myself. The top metal is tacked to the wood. I think antique Ford parts houses have the correct tacks. I have also seen felt between the wood and metal but I don't know if that was stock or something the builder added.

I own that book but it doesnt really help with my problem i just took all the wood back out tonight to start fresh. Something in the top has spread out over time but idk what to do to get it back where it needs to be. It just seems to be way high on the top and pushing that down spreads the sides out I am beyond frustrated so i hope starting over may help. Still though any ideas would be great to hear. Thanks again.

the book is titled model a ford mechanics handbook vol 2 you can get it from macs or synders for like 30 bucks. And i have adjusted pieces made holes bigger all of that but for some reason those sides seem to have a way high arch to them and are not as flat as they should be.

  10. i would try and fit the doors. maybe when you attached the bracing it may have shortened things up, causing the sides to bow. just a thought. good luck.
