have seen several vintage circle track cars at shows in the last 3 years made into street cars.
    is this a new trend?
there's one really nice black 37 chevy in hot rod mag owned by jim walker a few years ago but l can't find those pics, found some street legal dwarf cars and sprint cars and one legend car.
at the car show here in the northwest l have seen several old dirt track cars made into street cars, a 1934 ford, a1932 ford and a 30 something chevy.

    what the hell??
Not a good trend. And if I were a cop I'd bust that blue one with the big ugly aluminum wings for obstructing everyone's view.

I dig it, do it. Twice if it feels good. Three times if it doens't bite and feel free to continue unless you become raw.

    That Road Runner rules!!!!

But the roadrace "theme" is nothing new for the street. HOTROD, or maybe it was Car Craft, was doing features/builds on that kinda stuff in the mid 80's.....the IMSA look, dirt trackers, etc...

  14. seen a local sprint and also seen one cruising Fargo gives the cops something to do
a bud 70 yr young got stoped by a ND hiway patroll and he said you cant drive that on the road, but it was legal, must be a lot of old sprints that are street legal, fairly easy conversion lengthen and put in a PG or turbo 350

I guess that the DMV laws in Washington state are a tad more liberal than here in California.

the dwarf cars and legend race cars are based on 1928 to 1940 car and truck bodies.
so they look kinda vintage. a lot of them look like little jalopy's, my dad raced a full sized 1937 chevy one from 1962 to 1975 when the rule change to newer syle cars. besides, them dwarf cars are CUTE.

the 1937 chevy at bonneville in the pic below is the one i was talking about at the top when l posted.

Like fenderless roadsters aren't (weren't) built to imitate race cars for street use? Seems OK to me, as long as you're (I'm?) building the right era car. Miller/Ford Indy car OK? :D

These are the cars I'd like to copy. I'm not sure I want a flattie, and just today found a Jag 4.2, complete with bellhousing, clutch, trans, complete, which would work and look more like a Miller. Unless of course somebody started counting spark plugs!

  26. Now those are my kind of Vintage Race cars.

One of my dream cars since I was little has been a '36 Bugatti. In Le Mans trim of course. Ued to be a fella that brought one the the Roadster Show at the Cow Palace every year. The Ol. Man even got me a model of one to build.

There is a guy out west who builds street legal cars out of amu*****t park bumper cars with really hot motorcycle engines in them. They are very fast and with the extremely short wheelbase are, I suppose, very dangerous to drive. JB

MAN, I'll second that!!! I can't be the only one that remembers the pictures and the posters of the three GULF 917s running 1 2 3 in the rain at LeManns. Had that poster over my bed as a little kid, and in my minds eye I can still see the mist from the rain trailing off the tails on the cars. 917 on the street? HELL YES!!!! As for the rest, circle track stuff I could live without, But vintage drag stuff with plates another big HELL YES!!!

Yeah, or the P4 Ferrari, the McLaren, or any of the other ones.

The Formula 5000 in the 3rd pic is parked in front of a Pub, I believe... :D :D

Putting Racecars on the street is nothing new, but the pics in the first post of this Thread worry me.

If this is supposed to be a "new trend" its probably going to **** up yet another time honored Tradition....
