I am having trouble finding the VIN number on the sedan I bought this past weekend. Does anyone know where to find it? There is a tag on the firewall but it is to far gone to read.

Also if I can not find a VIN how do I "legally" get a new VIN and a ***le?

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks
    Brad

I can kind of see some sort of out line of numbers but I only see 3 maybe 4. Do you have any idea how many digits it should be?

    Should be 2 digits,2 letters,6 digits
    Example 11AA111111
and closer to the firewall than the x-member on the left rail

Thanks guys for all your help and info. I was able to locate the VIN number last night under a ton of rust. It was located right at the front crossmember in between a couple star stamps. There is only on digit that is questionable and it is in the 3rd number in the sequence. I will just use my best guess and go with it.

There are secondary numbers on the top of the left frame rail toward the rear of the car. Those numbers don't have the star or the three digit/letter model number, only the serial number. Unless the body if off the frame, you will need an inspection mirror to find them. The secondary numbers are there for law inforcement purposes. pigpen
