I signed up last week, even made a couple posts, but decided I should post an intro, so here goes..... I'm an old fart, 52 to be precise, and a certified gearhead. Cars, bikes, whatever else that made noise and looked kool was all I thought about as a kid. My dad and uncles used to take me to the airport drags in the mid-late fifties into the early sixties. We went to the stock car races on Saturday nights, starting when I was six. Those old chopped down coupes and sedans in the modified cl*** wound me up like a two-dollar watch! What Hot Wheels? When I was 5 or six, I started drawing hot rods and race cars, coloring them, then cutting them out and playing with them all around the house and yard. (my fifteen year old twin sons look at me like I'm from the planet stoopidzville when I say stuff like that) I cut and raked my first bicycle at 10, with the help of my dad. I "helped" the older neighbor kids build a plywood kar that vaguely resembled a chopped Model T, and filled in as test pilot when nobody else could get inside. I was 9-10. Halfway down the hill, the front axle decided it didn't care to go to the bottom, turned left, and caused us to barrel roll a few times, resulting in catastrophic damage to the kar, but I emerged un****hed! Thank goodness for the 2X4 roll bar! Anyhow, you get the picture.... I went through chopped and raked bikes, a mini-bike or two, dirt bikes, street bikes, choppers, bobbers, hot rods, Detroit muscle, all in a low-tech, lobucks fashion. I built a couple V6 trikes, just to see what they would turn out like, I've raced stock cars (and trucks), and am currently building a 1956 Plymouth 2dr post into a daily-driven g***er-inspired rod with a 440. I live in a town of around 50 people in the mountains of Colorado, at 7,600 feet of elevation. I do custom painting as a hobby, weld for a living, and build race cars and other stuff for fun in my "spare" time. I have a pair of fifteen year old sons, and their mother and I are pretty damned comfortable together, after nearly seventeen years. Hope to be here for awhile, learning what I can. You never know, I might even know the answer to a question someday. My web page
