Anyone got experience with Mustang II rack extenders? The width on my 36 dodge pickup requires something, either extenders or different tie rods. Ideas guys!
I had an extender on the power rack in my '56 Chevy but the rubber bellows kept blowing out and the rack had a bad seal in it.. Never could find a wider power rack so we ended up going to a manual rack with longer tie rods.
if you are using a stock M II rack, have one of your machinest buddies (you got one of them don't you??) and have him fab up some extentions. this is the way I had to do mine. When you get them back, drill a small hole ..same size as on the stock inner ends, and thread it so you can put a set screw in to hold the inner end. Mine are about 1.25 long ,and have had no problems with the boots Hope this helps
There are folks that sell them. I bought a set about a year ago, but can't remember from whom...it was one of those guys who advertises in Street Rodder...(xxxx Warehouse?). Also, depending on how much it must be extended, you may be able to get away with longer Tierods without getting the dreaded bumpsteer. Their are other fox body tierods that will interchange. I believe the Fairmount are the longer ones.
yeah....flaming river sells rack extenders, that fit THEIR rack...these will not fit a factory rack. Longer ends can fix the problem, if the pivot points match. Rod ends from a taurus will bult on, and are longer. Just remember, the inner rod end MUST pivot at the same point that the lower control arm moves
