Hi, I purchased what I was told is a dual Dupree Chrome Dome fuel pump. I called Barris to ask about the pump and He said he could not comment due to legalities, whatever that means, I dont know. Can you send a photo of yours so I can verify. You can send photos to nelsocb@chevron.com Thanks Chris
I researched this out and this is what I found. There was a caption under the google images picture above that read: The factory added this dual pump setup for the higher elevations they sent to cities that needed them. These are NOS with new gasket sets. Autopulse 500 electric fuel pumps were installed at the factory below the left rear foot board. A very neat cut out in that foot board accommodat<WBR>es a steel door for access to these pumps. I suspect that cars that were shipped to higher elevations like the "Mile high City" (Denver) needed a little extra push in the fuel system. I have lived in high country most of my life and vapor lock and a lower boiling point take a toll on the efficiency of fuel systems. I don't know specificaly what it applied to, but later got this information through a source on here. The guy said "The so called “chrome Dome“ pumps were built from the late 30’s to probably the early 60’s. I found a print of one the other day dated 1936.I had no idea that there were even electric pumps at that time. Some of these early pumps were OE on Duesenberg’s. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
This is a rare Walbro Dupree 12V Chrome Dome Fuel Pump which was used on the original Drag-u-la. I called Walbro and sent this photo, the older employees verified and recalled the product. C. Nelson Collection
