I have liked bomber seats for a long time. I suppose it's the industrial look they have. The ones I'm looking at are from Speedway. Here's a pic:

Now, my plan is to build a new platform, carpet it and mount these to it. They wiegh only 6 lbs each and would actually be lighter than the bech seat I have now. I'd still be able to lift it out. I would make seat cushions for the seat area.

For the inside walls of the body, I plan on either paint or a VERY low pile, almost felt like, carpeting that I presently have on the floor and kick panel. I'm also leaning towards paint or perhaps a bed liner type paint. Both ideas would be in black.

The pro for the bench is that it's more conventional and is proven to work. So, what do you guys think? If anyone has done this, I'd like to see pics, if you have them. I had a pic, but it was lost the last time my computer crashed.

I have those in my 28 Coupe. I too like look and would have gone with the vented style if I was to do over. I have high density foam on the bottom only so far. Not bad like that. Have to put more miles on it to give you a real opinion. They are mounted at 20 degrees. Good luck

  4. I really like the bomber seats and imho with leather pads or covered in leather looks the best. My 2 cents

English can be a beautiful language when written. Little smiley faces are cute, but words would really help me to understand what the hell you're trying to say.

Those are ok... But I think I'd go with a pair from Frank Wallic here in denver. More money but spot on. I wouldn't think they would be very comfortable on a long ride either.

I used Frank Wallics from Denver in my roadster. (Hopup 10) They look like the real deal. Pricy but worth it. He makes them in different configurations.

Bro, if you met me, you'd swear I was a walking pencil!:D I'm 6'3" and skinny as a rail. My proportions are all messed up because I fit in a T Bucket pretty good.

I found pics of Mr. Wallic's seats on another thread.

Very nice, but the price is a lot more than I planned to spend. They are beautiful though.

Nice! Who makes that? Not the buggy seat. The first one.

Maybe I like to be comfortable to much. I'd look at Triumph or MG seats, just about anything Brit pre-70 is a nice little bucket. And they have a little adjustment. I haven't sat in a bomber seat that seemed even remotely comfy. And the Speedway ones are most likely Chinese.

I'm still having difficulty picturing bomber seats in the roadster. Adding to what Zman has said, if you fit well, Fred, why not make it as comfy as possible?

    Understood and appreciated.

I'm still thinking on them and have found some nice ones in my price range. I guess my main request now would be comfort level. I'm not hoping for a Lexus ride because hot rods will never ride like one, but a little back rake and an area to add padding would be what I'm after.

I looked at the early British style and they are nice, but I already have a platform 'gl***ed in my interior that sits about 4" high (the fuse box and battery are located underneath) and the British seat would make me sit too high in the car.

I'll keep after it and thanks for the opinions so far. AS for the Speedway seats being made in China? Maybe, but they couldn't screw a seat up THAT bad.... could they? Has anyone bought these or sat in them?

Jack pot! The Hunt's seats are on Ebay and it seems Speedway sells the China copies. The Hunt price is a tad higher, but hell, made in AMERICA! So, if I go the bomber seat route, it will be with him. Thanks guys and anyone who has other options, please post them. I'm sure I'm not the only guy looking for these.

ts3x65mph, those are probably the best I've seen, but to be honest, my little bucket isn't worthy. Hell, I could build a car around a set of those seats.

I don't know , I actually think they're kind of ugly and busy ; definately played out . They are nicely made though , just a matter of opinion . Since you asked for opinions , I like a nice bench seat much better .

Heres a couple of pics of my home made bombers. Only basic hand tools to hammer form over MDF forms. Stainless ****on head machine screws to put them all together. Not very comfy ! 2 hours is all my **** & back can take. Getting some leather pads made up over winter.
