I'm curious if anyone on here has made a business coupe style roof out of a standard sedan roof. I really love the look of those shortened roof lines with the longer trunk. I'd ***ume it's about the same work as a regular chop, if not less. I've messed around in photoshop with this idea for a bit and I'd love to see a build up of this, if it's been done. I couldn't find much in the archive.
I chopped my 51 ford 5 inches moved the back window up about 5 inches and shortened the roof about 4(my member picture). My friend had 49 ford coupe and chopped it using a sedan roof, it turned out to be one of the most bad *** chops i have ever seen.. James D: Pretty much anything from the 40's to mid 50's really. The cars stand out the most in my mind are the late 40's early 50's MoPars and GM cars. The idea was to make a "business coupe" out of a bulbous discarded 4 door sedan, ideally. 2 door would work also, but the 4 doors are generally less expensive. I'm just a huge fan of the business coupe / club coupe roof line, extended trunk proportions. MTC: Any pictures you want to post on this build are more than welcome.
long deck lids are the way to go for sure. If you are planning on turning a less expensive 4 door into a two door though, keep in mind you will have to stretch the front doors to make it look right.
Devotion:Thanks for the reminder on the doors! Yeah, It probably would look a bit odd with the stock stubby front doors after all the mods. Actually I was hoping / planning on finding some stock 2 door replacements from salvage.
seems like I've been talking alot about my 48 ford business coupe lately maybe it's time to work on it. Chopped a business coupe 6 inches the slid the whole roof forward to line up the A-pillars. so I guess I have a short, short roof..........Jim
