1956 Chevy bought in summer of '66 after the Navy when my dad lived out here in Pomona, CA and attended Cal Poly. Car had an early 350 with '58 fuel injected heads. Paid $150 for the car and all it needed was 2 shocks and a muffler. [IMG]

I'm not a huge fan of the tri 5 Chevies, but my dad's ole '56 just has the look. He had the upholstery done in TJ in (I think) '68. Black diamond tuck. He brough them beer and old clothes, and sat and watched them do it. [IMG]

My dad's '50 Chevy fastback. Paid $35 in 1960 for the car right before he went into the Navy. Straight 6, nosed and decked with stolen '57 Caddy caps and nice tread tires. My dad and his friend Jerry liked to trade people milk cartons for their tires late at night... [IMG] [IMG]

1957 Chevy Flower Shop truck. Rare 265 V8 stick. My dad used to drag race it out on Long Island, but he can't remember where exactly. He worked at Garden City Florist.

My grandfather's 1932 Mercedes Cabriolet. My dad believes this car had a factory body, and not a custom built body. Bought for $800 in 1950, and sold for $1,800 in 1952 to buyt a 1932 Deusenberg J Murphy bodied towncar. Sorry, don't have any pics of the Deusy...

1915 Crane Simplex. Bought in 1945. Grandparents used to take the car on the Glidden tour. Car broke down in the Holland Tunnel one day, and the police officer put his coat over the front bumper to protect the car from being scratched. Wish I knew more about this huge car... [IMG]
I believe this picture was taken in front of my dad's house in Hempstead.

Cool story! My dad grew up im Milwood New York and picked up alot of the Rockafellars old cars. Roadster pickup, 30 something Cord and several others all in the couple hundred dollar range. Unfortunately, they were all sold long ago.

Great car. I love the Phaetons. I love this post. Some great family history through the eyes of the automobile. Gotta love it.
