Can anyone tell me the details of swapping a 225 Slant 6 for a 440 V8... the vehicle in question would be a 1967 Dart GT convertible... auto trans on the column. Thanks!!
A '67 is a little late for here, I'd try over at http://www.forabodiesonly.com/ or http://www.bigblockdart.com/ . Its a fairly straighforward swap and is done quite a bit. Motor mounts are sold for big block conversions, you'll also need a set of headers specific to that swap (also available) and a new transmission to go along with it since the /6 bell wont fit. For a 440 you'll also likely need a new rear end, since I'm sure you probably have a 7 1/4 in that Dart with the /6. Its been covered in depth at both the sites above.
easy swap ..try on www.moparts.com too http://www.engine-swaps.com/ has the parts if you need any more info look for me on moparts Welcome to the Hamb
I have done a dozen of these swap but have probably fogtten lots. Pretty straight forward swap. Either swap out with aftermarket motor mounts (slant six is taller on one side of K frame) or back off torsion bars all the way remove and replace K member for a v-8 one (all are the same but you need to use the right motor mounts to match K member as there are two different styles of motor mounts). All electronics will work on either 6 or 8. Radiator swap to match outlets of motor. There ar two different styles of upper control arms but both will fit body, just be sure that you use same spindle that came with upper a arm. Tranny will be spicific for 6 or 8. 6 cylinder torsion bars are smaller diameter but drag racers like this for weight transfer. Any A body torsion bars will fit. hope this helps
Moparts.com is a great place with tons of info. I got a mid 70s dart and swapped k memebers and dics brakes.Bigblockdart.com should have links to conversion mounts
