I found these hunting yesterday in the northern Maine woods...any idea what they fit or belong to...I found a pile of them..only took the better ones..
The tan one looks to be a 67/8 chrysler and the dark pair might be 49 to 52 chevy? and the first one might be a 60s buick or caddy.
First & second pics looks like early 50's Cadillac...third & fourth may be mid '60's/'70's Pontiac...the others are earlier, possibly '50's. R-
yeah the guy was probably hiding them from his wife so he put them out in the back part of his property
Some of you guys got to get out of the city...if you ever been to northern Maine you would realized that 80% of the woods are vast land lots that the paper making companies own. Most of the land over here is wide open...no posted lots over here....I cut 4-5 cords of wood a year...all free..just cut it haul it and split it..as they say..." MAINE THE WAY LIFE SHOULD BE"..
Maine is no different than any other state, if you go on someone elses property and take something that doesn't belong to you, in a court of law, that would be theft. Whether some of us don't get out of the city matters not.
I agree with the 1st being early 50's Caddy, the 2nd is, IMO, '65/'66 Buick Electra, the last I agee is early 50's GM, Chev?/Pont?/Olds 76/88 series?
If there are any out there that look anything like these PLEASE PLEASE let me know. I dont care how bad they are (to a certain extent) I want them. You can PM me if you want to for more info.
Pic 3 looks like a late 60s early 70s Merc or LTD. The last one looks like maybe an early Mopar. As far as how you got em, who gives a ****.
the first ones look like early caddy, second ones-not sure i thought they looked a little like the ones one my 68 chrysler, but they are different. maybe a little earlier but they look like chrysler-mid 60's i guess. the last ones just look like 53/54 chevs to me.
Just like anywhere, people dump car parts, tires, washing machines, TVs, any thing they don't want to pay to take to the dump. You find a pile of trash in the woods all the time.
Nfld is like Maine...loads of unoccupied land that is Government controlled and will eventually be used for something...or not. Free cutting of trees for firewood or sawing into lumber or whatever...just get a permit and cut 300m away from roads etc. Before the crushers came in the 70's people would simply drive or drag old cars into the woods roads and leave them. Certain areas still have the older cars and its fine to just take what you want. Your actually considered to be helping to clean up the enviroment. I've been off with our local 4x4 club simply hauling wrecks out of the woods that were in the area of new walking trails etc. Had a blast! We were then thanked for our efforts in the local Newspapers! Now if its fenced land or marked as private thats a different story entirely. I know of 2 57 Chevys...one a 2 dr Hardtop...that sit way off in the woods on private land. I was shown them by a neighbour of the owner. Can't touch them unfortunately...and the owner won't even consider selling them or parts. Thats the way it goes...
hey I found a 27 T on public property--- who do I ask? All the neighbors say go get it, I would like your permission if I could. Damn nothing has a value especially when it is in someone else's hands like a rusty old car part.
Well I thought I was going to get my *** kicked...a lot of people dump **** in the woods...here in northern Maine it's getting worse...I live about 2 hours north of Bangor Maine...all we have here outside of Millinocket are dirt roads for the logging trucks..the show American Loggers is based out of here....I now all of the Pelletier boys. If I see or come across something in the woods I take it out with me...as long as I can carry it out...people thought the years dumped alot of cars up here...I guess that was a common thing to do...****... They even shot 4 or 5 deer a year and drop a couple of moose..what the hell..that is how they survived...better shut up.. anyways thank for the info on the skirts..**** I almost forgot...we still have out houses out here...
The last two are actually 51 or 52 Chevy. You can tell by the arm. The skirts for these two years can go on either side of the car. The 49 and 50s are shaped differently. I think they are made for left and right. Not sure about the 53 and 54. I do know they will not fit the earlier cars. Dom
