Well, even though my 1933 Ford Vicky Land Speed Race Car is geared to tall for the 1/4 mile (set up for the mile at Maxton) I decided to try out the new Zmax Dragway in Charlotte for the vintage drags during the Goodguys event.

Here is a video (the camera man had some kinda spasm and missed the finish) but I won ...

Oh my car is the Black Ford #806 in the near lane.

Double Click the pic to lauch the video and then you can go full screen once it begins.

Thanks, That run was 11:22 ? at 121 + mph...
It is geared for a One Mile Run at ECTA's Monster Mile at Maxton, NC
With some lower rear gears should be in the low 10"s

Have you run the mile yet? What was the top speed? I will be going back to the TX mile in march after I buy new gears.

    Temper,

Yes I have ran the Mile at Maxton the last 2 years. I have 3 Class Records with the small 255 cubic inch "E" motor. And this Year my best speed was 152 MPH in a strong crossing head wind,, I have more speed available,, but the short wheelbase and broad side profile is a bit tricky to drive in any sort of cross wind,,, trust me it can be a handful.

My new LSR car is a 53 Studebaker, purpose built for Land Speed Racing, should be done by Feb.

Moto - Next year when the Studebaker is done, the Vicky "may not" go back to Maxton... The Vicky will be re geared for some Drag Racing and Car Shows.

That Vicky is perfect. Good to see you run top end with it. The Stude will make a great top end car but be sure to tie a flag to it if you park it at a big meet. There are a "few" others who have caught on to the potential of that body style.:D

Frank, thanks,, The Vicky is street legal, licensed and insured. The Studebaker will have the same team colors.. Satin Black, Red and White Lettering and trim, just a bit more flash !! however it will in no way be close to streetable.. The only way it will be at a meet is if I trailer it in...

Swade, thanks man. I had fun, it was the first time down a drag strip for me since 1987... Even though my car is geared for LSR ( 1 mile tracks) it did OK.

On the Stude, how are you dealing with the head restraint issue? Have you decided on engine class yet? Any chance you'll be visiting the "great white dyno"....?

Turbostude, you have a nice car as well. I Can't wait to finish mt Stude. Yes I plan to be on the "great white dyno" the entire reason for the Stude over the Vicky is the Vicky is a aero as a brick, The Stude has a much better chance do do what I need at Bonneville.

As to the new rule for Head and Neck Restraints. I have a NASCAR Spec full containment seat built custom for me by ISP, I also have an SFI 38.1 Head and Neck Reatrint system from Safety Solutions - The Hybry Pro..

    Turbostude,

As to class and engine etc. I have been Land Speed Racing the Vicky for 2 years at Maxton's Monster Mile and have Records in 3 classes with my lil "E" Motor (255 cu in.)

The Studebaker will Run E/CGALT at First (Classic Gas Altered), Hope to run near 220mph at Bonneville and at least 200mph at Loring's 1.5 mile course (paved)

Then if all works out, put my 370 Cu In, "C" motor in and see what she can do.
