I'm a young guy looking to learn and to extend my knowledge of traditonal rodding and eventually know enough to build my own car.
Yea I did go to the Stragglers show. I was amazed with the turn out. I so wasn't expecting to see that many cars, Guess it shows the strength of Nz rodding Well Like I said I'm a young guy, Still at high school and very keen to learn more about hotrodding. At the moment I'm just looking around trying to fiqure out what cars I'd like to build in the future. So far I'm thinking a sedan or tudor don't know what year though or make for the matter. The whole Chevy vs Ford thing is going around and around my head. Hope thats enough info - Crackett
G'day Crackett from another kiwi. Young guys are most welcome here, particularly if they dig the old traditional style. And most especially if they're kiwis! Some words of advice..... Dont mention rat rods here or you'll get barbequed. Read and learn. This is the most comprehensive site in the world of hot-rodding and there is years worth of learning in here. Use the search function... it's your friend. For example: you want to learn what an AV8 is.... type in AV8 in the search engine and get reading. If you happen to stick your foot in your mouth and you get flamed.... develop a thick skin, dont take it personally. We've all been there, got the singed tee shirt to prove it. Have fun. Marty.
Hey Crackett, Find one of the local clubs join up and stick out your thumb. Most of these guys are more than willing to take a hitcher along to events, they might even try to talk you round to their brand of car! On here read lots of posts, subscribe to any that take your fancy so you can follow them easily and save lots of pictures. Cheers.
Thanks man. I have already got a fair idea of what not to say thanks to other guys putting both their feet in their mouths( How awkward!) But once again thanks for the heads up. I have a friend whos in the Stragglers, Also believe his dads on here somewhere, I didnt really see the point of joining a car club with out a car seems similar to taking a knife to a gun fight. But whats the worst that can happen. I guess I'd learn more.
Crackett, good on ya , young guy into old shit ! She's all good on here, its instant infomation, if ur seen to be going in the right direction, you will get a lot of help, plus make heaps of new friends & contacts .....Go for it
