Placed an ad in the local paper looking for a Granada so I can get an 8 inch rear. The guy who has one (whole car for $100.) also has this rough A roadster stuff. $40 bucks he says . Yes I says.

What about the coupe in the background of the second pic?

  3. Last Granada I looked at had a 8.8 or something like that. It wasn,t an 8 or a 9 inch.Hope you looked!

  4. He can double his money at the salvage yard. But it will be a hard earned $100.

George G, I would check that one before purchase. Most of Granada had the integral type rear axles *read - no drop out center), I would check it first before laying out money. I have bought two to get motor/trans and neither had an eight inch rear.

Looks like a 9" from here.

  9. Wow wire wheel, dust mask, and make friends quick with a sandblaster. Looks like a few model A parts I have that need the same tender love and care. Good score for a tank of gas essentially (40$). At worst yard art.-Weeks

Man you guys are just spoilt, down here in NZ we don't have wrecks lying around with 8 or 9" diffs or anything, we have to import virtually everything ($$$) and forget about real nostalgia parts =(

  15. Save those front spindles too. The mid-fifties Ford guys can use them to lower and convert to disc brakes. Nice score.

if you can take out the center section with a 9-16 socket its an 8 inch if you need a 9-16 wrench for the bottom its a 9.

Pretty sure it's an 8 inch. That lowest nut doesn't look like it can get gotten to with a socket, a sure sign. Either way, 8 is plenty strong for that light a car, good find.

If I didn't think it was going to be that much of a pain and cost so much in shipping, I'd buy that Granada front end off of you to pay for your roadster... *sigh*

  18. From this angle that definitely looks like a 9 inch. Lucky score!

I did the socket test and couldn't get it on, then I pulled the tag, decoded it, and found it is a 28 spline 2:75 non locking 9 inch.

Yeah I have the front brakes on Kijiji already.

Great score on the 9 inch. Lots more options for changing out the gears.

  28. Another one to watch for is a Lincoln Versailles. They are built on the Granada ch***is and came with a 9" with disk brakes. I bought a whole car for $100, had the junk yard pick up the car and take it to his yard and he cut the springs with a gas powered saw with the car on a fork truck. I gave him the car for his troubles and he put the front brakes on his 66 Comet. That way I didn't have to tow it, or bring it home!

Are there issues with getting replacement brake pads / caliphers?

  30. If you don't use the gears, I am looking for a 2.75 gear for a 9"!
