That's right, they had that crazy blown Ardun block on the front (at least, in the newsstand edition).
Just noticed if you go to H&H flatheads they have that article posted. Are they making the block or is it only motor city (shadow rodder)?
The aluminum blocks used on the various all-aluminum Ardun builds are from Don Ferguson and are Ardun-only items. They will not work for a standard flathead build; they lack both exhaust and intake ports. The Motor City/Shadow Rods block is an entirely different piece. I'm not up to speed on the status of that item.
This seems to have been silent for awhile. Did the Motor City/ Shadow Rods endeavor fail to make to production.
Everyone was hot on these blocks when they were first mentioned- now no one knows anything on their status????
For you guys that haven't seen the Ardun block by Don Ferguson..............these were taken about 4 years ago at the LA Roadster/Fathers Day Weekend. I don't remember who made the aluminum pan, but the outside was thing of beauty. The price you say..........it was only $1200.00 in 2005! I think you put a motor like the one H&H did on the cover of Hot Rod for $40/50k.....maybe a little cheaper if you do it yourself.
There was a recent post on this. Hit up the search function and let 'r rip. Or......find an original Granatelli Brothers/Ford block.......talk about traditional.
Wasnt flathead jack gearing up to make new blocks ? I seem to remember some patterns for the block , on his web site . HhMmmm
