Well I got in. So I'm getting ready to ship out next Febuary to FT Knox for a 4 weeks Army life refresher course, then to Ft Lee for AIT for army cook school. Figured I oughta do what I do best to do my part to suppport the troops fighting for us.

Besides I'd rather be there cooking for our troops than a local fancy restaurant full of gas ****ing SUV driving yuppies whose biggest worry is which credit card he/she is gonna use to pay for the meal after he complains that the med rare steak he ordered was actually med rare when he got it.

    ZEKE I salute you.
When you get to Fort LEEzure, find the "sword and key" and "head busters" great bars on post. The post was shared by Marines and Army soldiers , even the dance floor was divided....made for some fun.
Go to DC while you are there,Smithsonian,Vietnam wall, etc.
Just dont get too far off the main drag or you will never be seen again.
I was there in 86-87 great place , good people.
Going to the sand box next ?

Spent a cold and muddy 9 weeks at Ft Knox riding around on M48 and M60 tanks, Feb-Apr 1965. Hope you have a more comfortable stay. My hat's off to you, and good luck [hand salute] :)

P.S. Remember, when in doubt, empty the magazine.

4dFord/SC this is a return trip to Knox for me. I did basic there in 85 in armor M60A3s. So I know what to expect there. This is my second go around with the Army and I'm staying until I retire. After which I'll open Zeke's Diner and/or Tiki/Sushi bar and yer all invited to the grand opening.

Did you happen to know a Capt. Rynott?
I think he was a captain when he was there, maybe a louie.
    If so, he's my bro-in-law.
Good luck, stay out of range and come back in one piece to drive again...

  25. Does the Army know how lucky they are?

We're lucky we have the Army and the Navy and the Marines and the Air Force and the Coast Guard.
    Did I get everybody?
Hope so, you guys and gals do things for the rest of us that we can never repay.

Sure hope you drop in on the HAMB now and then.
(We don't really need any of the Army's recipes though . . . a few of yours will do just fine.... [IMG]

    Godspeed.
