I spent the last couple of weeks working on the wagon. I installed airbags and ran the lines, plumbed the chassis for brakes and fuel, smoothed and painted the firewall, worked on the body mounts and bolted the body back on.The pic with the beer bottle is at ride height. When it sits on the bump stops I have about 3 inches clearance, that is with the huge 225-15's.I'm going to use either 205-15's or 195-15's to get it a little closer to earth

  4. Jethro,

Nice longroof. I have a few friends with parkwoods. Why didn't you use a Kootenai for the measurement? Awhile back a group of us roadtripped to Todd mtn and got drunk on Rye whiskey with the slope groomers every year for like a decade, until the F*ing Japanese company bought it, fired em all and turned it into Sun Peaks resort.

Hey Dobbs...I used a Bud bottle so it would be universally understood.I believe you were reffering to Kokanee beer, it's brewed in the Kootenays not called Kootenay.
Yeah Tod Mountain lost some of its charm when Nippon Cable bought the resort. The reason they renamed it to Sun Peaks is "Tod" means "death" in German and some of the German tourists didn't like the name. The resort now has grown to be a small village with snooty hotels and expensive restaurants. It's still not as pricey as Whistler or Aspen but I think they are trying to go that way.

  7. Nice. Is that the same car that Ginger1959 was driving a while back or is there another 59 Brookwood on the board from BC?

  8. Ginger's car is a Canadian 59 Pontiac 4-door wagon. Nutz.

Great progress, I dig the color. When you say you are going with 205 or 195. I hope you do not mean in a 50's series tire like those used on mini-trucks. Way to same for a car thatsize. Word of advice, lower it not always better when it means sacrificing looks. Look at wagon pics and most of the nice looking ones have tires stuffed into the fenders. I would not go below a 205/70/15 (actually a little narrow for the rear) unless you are going with a 16, 17 or larger diameter.. I would not go with less then a 215/70/15 for the size of that car (if you are going with blackwall a 205/65 may work).. take a look at the wagon section on my site and look at the tire sizes..... just my 2 cents......

Boones...I don't like the look of those rubber band tires either.I was talking about a 75 series tire .The 195 -75 -15 is about 26-1/2 inches tall and the 205 is about 27 which is supposed to be the same as original size. The tires i have on there now came from the Caprice donor car and to me they are huge like truck tires almost 29 inches. When I deflate the airbags I get a little rubbing on the top of the rear inner fenders so a smaller tire should cure this...I hope.

that is good to know... I would recommend a 70 series over the 75, less side to side motion from the tires.. I run 215/70 on my wagon and they ride great... keep us informed on the progress, I like what I see so far...
