    Dan,

Sorry I haven't posted new pics yet. I've been swamped and haven't had the time to take the pics.

The vertical bars are stainless steel. The bottom horizontal and the top two horizontal bars are stainless as well. The gold colored rods are actually brazing rods. The center vertical stainless bar was drilled with a thru hole for the brazing rods. The vertical stainless bars on the ends were have a blind hole for the brazing rods to "snap" into. All of them were rolled on a slip roller. The brazing rod slide thru the hole in the center stainless bar and then you insert one end of the rod into the hole and "snap" the other one into the other hole.

It looks really neat in person.

I agree with 42hotrod and being partial to that particular year cuz I have one well Chev of the 40's sells one in bare steel you can paint. They really don't look good with goofy grilles. I spent 15 years tracking down an original and then two years later they were making repo grilles. Go figure!

We sold hundreds of 39 and 40 Chevrolet Pickup grilles in the 70s-80s-early 90s at SPecialized Auto Parts in Houston. They've been available all along.

I don't know how bad of shape your stock grill is, but I bought a rough 40 grill at Indy a few years ago because my 40 had some bars missing down low. If you just need some bars, I might have some decent ones left. (I have to find it first) Your truck is looking good!
