It's been about a year since I posted looking for information on this 66 Vette g***er and I've looked at 100s of pages of drag racing pictures and done every search I can think of without success. We aquired the car from the Cincinnati, OH area and was told it may have run in the Columbus, OH area in the 70's. That's all we can find out. I have also posted on other drag racing cites. The car has some unique features that may help identify it so here are some more pictures. The car was Candy Green at one time with diamond-tufted tan interior. It ran a big-block Chevy with an automatic and an early 60's Olds/Pontiac rearend. It was well-built and remains in good shape. We are in the process of getting it back in running order and have completed the firewall, pedals, steering and have the engine and transmission placed. I will be putting some updated pictures on soon. We would appreciate any information, pictures, or comments/suggestions you have.
Wish I knew. I remember seeing that 'Vette come up for sale a while back; man, did I want to buy that beauty!
Thanks for the comments. It really is a neat car and I'm sure someone somewhere remembers it. It's been suggested that maybe it was a show car and didn't have any track history. While that's possible, it sure looks to me like it has track time on it and I don't think a strickly show car would have had some of the features this one has. We have made pretty good progress on it since these pictures were taken and I hope to get some updated pictures online this weekend. Our plan is to first get it where it can pull itself around at the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green Ky this summer. We have a freshly built 427 and a rock crusher for it and they are in place. The rearend is out being powder coated and the polished aluminum firewall is complete and installed. I ordered a set of fenderwell headers but with the engine set-back along with the way the frame rails widen out, they wouldn't clear without a lot of modifications. I guess we will run headers under the car for a start. It's been a lot of fun so far and I appreciate all your comments.
