Heading to my sisters house in Charleston for Thanksgiving. Is there anything going on or any cool places to visit while Im there. I will be there through the weekend.
The whole town is a major point of interest. Forget cars and hot rods while you're there-take a carriage ride (or two) and see the sites: MAJOR historical. Also eat your wayaround the city-fantastic food.
forget cars and hot rods????????????? Is that possible. I cant wait to check out the town it seems very interesting. The carraige ride isnt special we have horses and Ive driven them before
you can sure see plenty of cars sitting in traffic trying to get anywhere around here... not many rods around during the week. nowhere to cruise, really, and too many stupid ****s in SUV's who'll run you off the road to get to Starbucks. my advice? sit tight and tuck into the bird and fixins. our dumb***es are just as bad as the ones you got at home if not worse.
Not much going on hot rod wise. Everyone is in Daytona for the Turkey Run. Definately get out and check out the town. Most of the touristy stuff is downtown..but there is neat stuff all over. Nice place to visit, and a pretty damn good place to live also. If you need anything, gimme a holler. -Abone.
The ride is NOT the draw ... it is what you will see on the tour. I was in Charleston this past weekend for a small rod run/show ... Charleston is a cool place to sight see. The carriage tours are very informative ( I used to date a girl who conducted the tours and I have done the tour many, many times. Years ago I could give the tour as well as she did ). They are not really carriages ... it more of a wagon with a bunch of seats. Go here http://www.oldsouthcarriagetours.com/ Ticket price is 21 dollars ... for a adult and well worth it IMHO. I suggest eating at Hymans Seafood ... on Market St. Hotrodprimer, Mrs Hotrodprimer, My wife and I ate there this past Friday night. If you like Bar-B-Que ... I suggest Thomas Bessinger's on Savannah Hwy ( Hwy 17 S ). We all ate there Saturday night The Hunley submarine, the gardens, the harbor ... all great places to visit. Deuce Roadster.
I can second Deuce Roadster's recommendation to eat at Thomas Bessinger's BBQ on Savannah Highway. DO NOT miss the onion rings!
