Brackets not available...if you take a 90 degree bent piece of maybe 1/4" steel and drill it to fit the frame horn holes and holes on underside of bed, you have the function covered. If I then sent you a template of the stockers, said crude bracket could then be trimmed to match the complicated edge curves of the stocker.

Bought time you get something cool Michael. Don't go SBC, that would be just lame and the easy way out. nailhead sounds good to me....Gibson's has a couple early 401s I saw last week. You could pick up for pretty cheap. There is a 50's Caddy out there as well.

Thanks for all the input, I didn't get any fenders with the deal, so I probably will go fenderless. I like the look w/o fenders.
My idea of a cost log is long gone, I know I would **** if I would add it up.
Drive train is still up for debate, leaning toward SBC 283 or 327.
Does anybody have a photo of a ch***is, or frame, I got a frame with the truck, but it is cut about 1-2' behind the cab and the rear piece just doesn't seem to be right. If anybody can direct me to a correctly Z'ed (I think that is the proper term) frame or orginal frame I would appreciate it.

This my be a slow project, but will keep you updated.
    Again thanks for the feedback!

Mike...cool project. Ive got a 331 caddy that runs..... It belongs in there.

Ive got some nice fenders too if you decide to go that route.

Give me a call Ill stop by and try to figure out what youve got going on with that frame.

    later, ROB

I like the fendered look and keeping the rocks and **** from sandblasting the cab. For motors, the 241 Hemi would be very cool but very spendy ($2000-$3000) to build. Since this is your first build, the 283 or 327 would be fine too, especially if you plan on putting a lot of miles on it. One thing to remember about these trucks is there is very little room in these trucks so don't cut into the firewall and take away any leg room. Big, long motors aren't a good fit. I hope you aren't too tall!

When you start building it, just get a file folder and file the receipts in there. You have to spend what ever it takes to build it the way you want anyway, so keeping track of it's cost won't matter in the end. It will be worth whatever it's worth, no matter what the end total is. Total it up in the end but it's a waste of your time.

Anyway, here's my '32 pickup (not me in the pic, but fellow Hamber and all around good guy Malcolm AKA Nick).

Fendered here also but there are a lot of good looking fenderless that have been posted. That is the nice thing about building it yourself, you do it the way you want.

Welcome to 'Pickup Hell'. Only problem you will have is making up your mind............then, when your done, you'll still be changing your mind. Then, after you drive it for 2 years, you'll STILL be wanting to do something different to it. ENJOY, and there is plenty of experience on here, to help ya out. Don't be shy, I wasn't and it paid off. Congrats.

Unfortunately exactly like the day I brought it home. I'm hoping to make some room in my dad's garage/shop for it this weekend so I can have some progress over the winter.
I will definately post updates when the time comes hopefully sooner than later!

Hey, finally after a year of the frame sitting in the weeds, it's indoors.
Thanks for all the ideas, pictures for inspiration.
One of I'm sure many questions, I have what was told a Model A box, I don't plan on running fenders. What rear end width works good? I have a '50 Ford truck it's 55 inches backing plate to backing plate, the widest part of the box is 48" at the very top, I'm concerned with the tires to far away from the box or a whole lot of space between the tire and box.
Is there a fatory rear end that won't need shortening that would fit good?

I'll add pics of progress later, Thanks

What tires and wheels are you running? Backspacing will make a lot of difference. My rear end is 60" flange to flange. But I'm running radir 10" cheaters. I also have a 32-34 bed which is I believe 4" wider then model a. I figured 2" between the sidewall and the bedsides.
