Some folks say rock music is dead. I would agree it may have lost it's may, but it is certainly not dead. Not with the duo The Black Keys kicking around. Rising from the ashes of a post-industrial Akron, OH these cats would be as comfortable backing Howlin' Wolf as they would be filling in the guitar and drum duties for Led Zepplin. Wearing their blues influence on their sleeves, I can't stop playing their 2nd (I think) full length record "Magic Potion". It calls itself for not only listening to it repeatedly, but listening to it at ear damaging levels. Really cool stuff. Yeah, it's that good.
ouch!! lose the Black Keys......listen to the mummies (actually forget what I said....listen to whatever you feel like)
**** man, yall need to listen to some of the first Thin Lizzy albums. Johnny the fox............ thats a good start.
Chulahoma is an awesome album from them. Its a bunch of songs from Junior Kimbrough that The Black Keys covered. Check it out....
Thanks for the tip. I'll check them out for sure. I think I got turned off by them by only knowing their later stuff. Weren't they the ones who did "The boys are back in town?" That tune stinks.
Yea, That song has been shoved down everyones throat, I cringe everytime I hear it. Their first stuff is so full of heart. You really need to check it out. Something about their Irish heritage.
Really love the whole Estrus catalog. This is coming from a guy who would send in his cash as soon as I received the catalog in order to get the colored vinyl version of latest Mono Men, Insomniacs, Prisonshake, Mummies, etc. records. I did the a Crust 7" single subscription as well. Mummies are really cool, but there something about the Black Keys that just wants me craving more. Pretty soulful and rockin' especially for a two piece white dude band.
