s***bags.. here they take a chain, rap it around the tounge than there bumper and drag the trailer down the road to where they can cut off the tounge lock i know its a pain but pulling the wheels off the trailer is probly the best thing to do
who say's anyone has to find the remains or know he was ever caught? bet theres plenty o' places to permanently lose a body in texas.... damn thieves !!!!! that ****s to lose your trailer a buddy of mine lost his to theives a couple years ago the *******s went to the back of his yard up his 1/4 mile driveway in the snow at midday hooked up and drove off must have known he wasn't there
I don't think it has a thing to do with the economy. They're f***king thieves! They will always be thieves. Just my opinion.
One thing I learned about trailer theft... The crooks can get around most hitch ball locks. They will show up with a hitch that has a large bolt or pin in place of the hitch ball. The area right behind the hitch coupler on the trailer is usually open underneath. They pick up the trailer and drop it over the pin and drive off to someplace where they can break the hitch lock off without getting caught. The solution to that is to weld a small steel plate over that open area. Of course, they will still get the trailer if they really want it, it just slows them down a little more.
i had a trailer stolen, ****py feeling. all you can think about is revenge and protecting your next one. i take my wheels off one side and chain the other side through the rim holes and take the plate off. if they want this one they are gonna have to wrok alot harder. ****in thieves.
Chains are the easiest to cut with bolt cutters or hit with co 2 and snap use a good grade thick multistrand cable, very hard to cut takes multiple tries to get thru, a while back we had a traier with a chain and a cable someone tried to steal, they snapped the chain but was unable to get the cable cut thru, also use some tire deflaters
Seems like the majority of threads started for thefts are from Texas. Either because the majority of HAMBERs are from there...or there is a serious issue. I wonder what the insurance stats are?? Hope you get it back.
I must be bored... I found my answer. Texas is far behind Cali! Top 10 States for Auto Theft 1 California 242,693 2 Texas 95,429 3 Florida 76,437 4 Arizona 54,849 5 Michigan 50,017 6 Washington 45,899 7 Georgia 43,163 8 Illinois 37,641 9 Ohio 37,425 10 New York 32,134
Sorry to hear about your trailer getting snagged. My trailer is a piece of **** ,but its mine and i had to pay for it ,so i keep it locked up with 2 locked chains on my gate and a lock and chain from the trailer to a tree.Like others have said ,if they want it bad enough, it wont stop thieves.I hope the guy that got yours ,tries to get mine ,and i catch him in the act .I will post pics of the aftermath for you if im lucky enough to walk up on them...
People are dumb when it comes to car trailers. No, not you, I mean they act like they're made of gold or something. Went to a state auction a couple months ago they bid one that was.. like 4, 5 years old, okay shape... to like $2500. You can buy one new for less than that. But no, these guys bid one to more than it's worth, then wonder why someone else comes along and steals it. I bought a small trailer at a guy's estate auction and applied for a registration as a new homebuilt and got a state ***igned serial it's up to me to stamp on it somewhere. No one inspected it or anything, it needs a safety inspection for lights and tires but that's it. So the other reason guys steal them is because it's relatively easy to get away with it and get clear paperwork for it. I mean, I towed my buddy's car trailer clear to New Jersey and back a couple years ago, never got questioned or checked for an inspection or anything, and the damn thing only had one fender and for a while I only had one light on the back (magnetized light had bounced off and broken). Statie drove right by me and kept going. Personally I think I'd have mine "accidentally" hooked up to an electric cattle fence charger, in some hidden way that's not easy to find to disconnect. Hide something sharp around the tongue lock for them to grab onto, too.
I've done a lot of research into trailer security, and there is one product that I am very impressed with. It's called 'The Big Stick' Basically, like 'The Club,' but it attaches to the wheel lugs of your trailer: http://www.carrythebigstick.com/
My daily kept being broken into and they kept stealing the radio. Got tired of it and removed all the screws from the radio and put those square razor blades thru the screws and put it back together. Not 2 weeks later, they broke in. Looked like I slaughtered a pig in the truck and down my driveway. Followed the trail to a house that was on my block. A teen punk lived there and his hand was bandaged next time I saw him. Asked what happened to his hand and he said he cut it while cutting firewood. I said you cut it on a Kenwood? Never had a problem after that.....
our laws and politicians, and the people of this country state in our laws that it is okay to steal, ****, and rob. A revolving door for busted criminals. You would think there would be enough people who had enough to get in changed. If you bust someone once for a crime, they have probably gotten away with it 100 times before, so fry em if they get busted cold, not a couple months and out. 20 years min for theft, give em a tarp to sleep under at night. The chain gang can all huddle together on the side of the road ( where they were doing work for us ) in a big pile for warmth under the old tarp at night. ? wil www.sakowskimotors.com
bummer about your trailer. reminds me of that clint eastwood movie. good citizens ride up on clint who is hearding his cows he just bought. good guys string up clint cause they are hot to trot and dont believe his story that he just bought the heard. clint lives throught the hanging (only in the movies) and turns the table on the good guys..... so . be careful- if you do ever see it.
Twice in this thread something called a "tire deflator" has been mentioned. Can somebody explain those and where to get them? BTW that "Big Stick" looks good! Dave
the big stick looks good, but will only stop the amateurs, the pro trailer thiefs carry small torch set ups and cut thru the locks , and most likely torch off both ends of the big stick in a minute
