I have been having idling problems with my 302 ford in my 51.It is a point type dizzy. My neighbor donated me a dist. with a pertronix ignitor in it. It has no instructions with it. My question is how to hook it up. Right now the wire coming out of the dist. goes to the neg. side of the coil. The pertronix has a blk wire and a red wire. Does the blk go to the neg. side and the red go to the pos. side. Seems like a dumb question but I don't want to short it out. Went to the website but no help. Tech line is not up yet. Anybody have one? Will my stock coil be alright or do I need to buy there "flamethrower coil"? Thanks TP

Not even close to a full deck, I was feeling REALLY optimistic when I took the name. Your Welcome.

Ditto on what 51 said. The Petronics will feel crisper at low RPM as you get multiple sparks below 5,000 and you might see a "slight" improvement in mileage.

Why is there a delay in it? I have to wait about 7 seconds before mine will crank once the key is turned to "on"???

1Low,Check the voltage you have coming in to the ignitor. I have one on a SBC and had the same problem. I cannot remember exactly but it was under 12 volts. Ran a different wire to get 12 volts and it fires right off. Neal

I got on there website last nite to try and find a few things out about it. One thing that was said is don't leave key on for more than 15 seconds. Their tech dept is not up and running yet. I've been told that engine, frame gound is very important.

You probably removed the inline Resistor These things DO NOT USE a Resistor.
