    Howza All-

    So feast today and enjoy.
I recommend a Margarita with the turkey by the way.

This post may be way off target, but I know many here love all things old and dare I say vintage.

    So here is the deal.

Tomorrow is Black Friday and Home Depot, where I work, has a competition amongst the stores for best use of the gift centers.

I decided to throw a "Christmas Story" curve at it this year.
From my mind, to Marsha's pen, to John's handy work we created a display which for the most part looks like a late 40's era city block. The store "window" is filled with vintage tools, a Leg Lamp and yes, a Red Ryder BB gun.

A plus was borrowing my friends 1953 GMC 11/2 ton flatbed. This old boy runs so smooth it was like it was powered by a sewing machine. It is rust free and has not dropped any petrol on the stores floor either.

The response was a first place in our district and smiles from customers who walk into the the store.

I wanted to create a place of warm memories in a cold retail sales place of business.

    I think I succeeded.

If you are in the Portland area come on by the Jantzen Beach Home Depot.

    Thanx guys.

One of the coolest things that happened just after we put it together was a senior citizen in his 70's talked with Marsha and I about the display. He had worked for a hardware store that his dad owned way back.

He told us of the displays and what it was like.

You deserve a raise for the effort. Was there a door big enough to get the truck through or did you just cut a big hole in the wall?

Actually Richard drove it through our lumber doors.

It was so damned awesome seeing this thing roll down the main drive of the store at a 1/4 to 6 in the morning.
