Does your wife/girlfriend like the hotrod scene

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by tattedfordguy, Aug 14, 2009.

  1. My girlfriend (of 8 yrs) doesn't mind saying "our" car or taking it for a drive but trying to get her to do something as simple as bleeding the brakes is like getting blood from the stone.

my wife seems to accept it, but definetly doesn't go to the shows, or cruises. but understands that its my thing & it was part of my life long before I knew her, and its not changing.

  5. My wife got tired of saying "our car" so now she takes her own truck to all the shows, I take MY car. lol

My wife refers to my car as "the other woman".
She does put up with my "I need $300.00 for a new whatever".

When we spent our first winter in an apartment with a 327 under the kitchen table I knew that I found a keeper. That was many moons ago and now we have a little better living conditions but shes still good with it all:D

Folks, I have to be the luckiest man alive!

Here are some thumbnails of my wife Pat (Assistant Crew Chief). We've been married now going on 37 years, and these are some random shots of her in our garage: smiling at the Nickey Funny Car front end; filling the Currie 9" with oil; checking clutch pedal travel; cleaning parts; using a 4 1/2" angle grinder on some wheel housings; doing some wiring in the trunk; masking off the roll bar; cleaning the wiring harness; and getting her hair caught in the creeper wheels -- ouch! What a trooper!

Does my wife like the hotrod scene - you betcha! She can't wait to launch it at 6 grand!

Well lets just say she hates that I am involved in the whole car thing and she thinks they are all ugly...... Well I say when I am gone and she sells them all for tons of money she will probably like them then. I also say she has been with me for almost 21 years now and if she hasnt accepted me being a car guy... she needs to jst deal with it!

actually my old lady just got a 55 chevy custom, I insisted on helping her pay it off mostly so I can regulate on what gets done and ensure no pink shit finds its way in to it.

My girlfriend(mother of my little girl) does not care for it so much. She does not like me spending so much money on a car she says will never get done. She thinks it should be done every time I spend a $100 on it. But she will go to shows and rod runs with me, and she is starting to get it, Last year she even said she wanted me to get her a nova around 69-71 years. I was really proud of that comment.

She likes fast cars and prefers to daily drive a full size Chevy truck. Not so much into the old school stuff but she accepts that I am. We just started a V8 S-10 Extreme project for her. Whatever... As long as I have my stuff with no resistance from her.

Mine Loves going out for a ride and like to look at them, but cant seem to understand the pride that goes along with building your own... She'd rather me buy what I want than build it.

Mine loves the cars , she will set out there and polish and clean that car for hours just to go for a ride or to a show . She did my interior , helped wet sand , bought parts , did alot of the wiring , even goes to junk yards to help get parts for my other projects. Hell I think I better keep her.

My wife loved my motorcycle addiction before we had our daughter. Then I sold the big paperweight to get back into cars, hauling the kid worked better that way!

Then I sold the 53 chevy I first got and built my 49 Pickup. We used to go cruising around town but it didn't work very well with a car seat so I sold it. Now I am collecting parts for my Model A and about 4 weeks ago I was set on selling everything, I even called a few guys to tell them to get their money together and the first one that arrives walks away with it. I ran it past her and she refused to let me sell it.

She wants me to get the Model A started and get another 53 Chevy and never sell anything.

Here is here after I broke my 49 pickup on the way to my 1st Hunnert, never even made it. :( but we had fun waiting for my buddy and the trailer....

She loved the Rust Revival and looks forward to Pre 64 shows, she hates Muscle cars

My wife's first car, the Nova, she had over 20 years.
The '50 Burb is hers, I built it for her to drive.
The '29 A Sedan is mine. Can you guess the prioritys in my shop? :D

Lucky for me, she loves old cars, and keeps my A.D.D. ass in line!

my first wife didn't like my car facination....that marriage lasted 2 years.

my current wife knew from day 1 of dating, via my mouth, kids, cars, everything else... like it, or lump it.

sounds mean, but she agreed, and we have been together about 9 years now :)

I've been a car guy (or everything pushed by an internal combustion engine) all of my life. Eat sleep and drink the hobby/passion/ obsession. Been married for over 45 years. She has her own '37 2dr. I rest my case.:)
