Here is my problem...I have an all-new wiring harness in my Terraplane, and a GM three-wire alternator. The car continues to run once the ignition is turned off, so I either have to pop the clutch or remove the cable from the battery terminal to turn the car off. I know I need a diode in the white wire coming off the alternator to solve the feedback problem. The thing is - how big of a diode do I need??? The instructions for the harness only say to install a diode on a specific wire, but do not specify WHAT type or size of diode!

    Any clues?? Thanks!

1 amp/50V diode is all ya need. That's what I use. Works fine. You can get em' at Radio Shack.

Sure does. In a lot of cases, you can even use the existing dash bulb to drain off the residual backflow.

As 36-3 stated, it's been posted here before, but here's a link for more for anyone who's interested in the why, etc.
