    Andy,
If the person drilling the crank is careful, and understands that you aren't going to grind it, You shouldn't have to.

So, Diamonds can be either a Model A without the fuel pump and with the oil return, or a B type with fuel pump and without oil return. If it's an 'A' with the diamond is it likely to have all the smaller Model A stuff internally? Or did the 'A' with diamond have the bigger crank with or without counterbalances? Now I'm really confused.

Yes. Think of it like this.

    A diamonds are 1931 A engines built after 1931.

B diamonds are 1933 B engines that were built after 1933

Here is a good quick read on the banger basics:

  5. so, i did some cleaning on my block, it is not a diamond block, but it does have "C" cast in the head. Just need to drop the pan and see what I really have.

There are four counterweights. All are the same inside diameter. The A,B and BB cranks all have a disk area turned four places- behind front main, either side center main, and just ahead of rear main. All are the same size and the counterweights can be put on any position on any of these cranks. The center two have to pass over the end diameter to get to where they will go. How Ford managed this with a heavy press fit I have no idea. The only way that I can see is that they heated and shrunk them on. If you have a very tight press fit, many times you will get galling during pressing. In the ones that I took apart there was no evidence of this, and with the rough surfaces on the crank and bore of the counterweight, I can,t see this not happening if a press rather than a shrink fit was used.

Im organising a display of bangers here in New Zealand dont think it has been done before featuring hotrodded modified or speedster type vehicals and parts mainly ford a and tees and a few vintage speedway type cars these type of cars have always been looked down on her by both rodders and vintage car types so it has been an uphill battle all the way how ever by all working together about 60 car owners have indicated they are interested along with a number of owners of period speed equipment overheads ect any suggestions as to other displays that may help promote our interest.[maybe copies of old banger speed adds if anyone has any]

The blower is a aircraft cabin pressure blower thats have bin modd to fit a engine.
Belt drive throw a Vw Typ 1 generator, the engine its a stock B. 2 bbl autolite carb, going to replace it with two -97 carbs later. Stock chassie with a -32 hevy axel in front, a small kickup in the bak 2". 16" with 500 ribb/750-16 firestone rubber. im hoping to put out 100hp with this set up. The body is pieces from several cars, quater panels from a coupe, very much home made parts and modifikation to the body to make it look good (6 kvm new sheetmetal), home made "Hallock" windscreen. Old cheaster gray paint.
    Sorry! very bad english =)

I'd say that 100 hp is no problem. What a bitchin project !!!!

I dont know how most boost but its almost twice the rpm that the engine is turning.
I have 2" exhaust but have to change it to somthing bigger now with the blower instald. I have some air leak that i have workt on today, new gasket and stuff so now i will run iven grater. More vids coming later.
Im building another supercharged banger allsow, its a Volvo B20 (2000CC) with a Volvo marin blower and two 45/45 weber on it. That i hope will put out 300hp, its going to bee instald in a -28 tudor later. That blower going to peak 13000 rpm and the engine 6500 rpm. That going to boost around 3 bar in top peak. 3 Bar = tripple effekt. The blower on the coupster maybe put out 1-1,5 bar on peak rpm and that on a sidvavle engine will esaly dubble the effekt i think. maybe tripple it?
I think the blower its a 1,5 liters i dont now how to kalculate it but maybee 1,5 * 8000rpm = 12000 liter och air? maybee someone can kalculate the hp in the engine?

Pics of the Volvo banger maybee i put out here if you guys are interested in such a motor?

This is a great picture. It really shows how thin the stock head is over the piston. If you cut any more then an 1/8 inch off of that head, It would weaken it horribly. I would also predict that there wouldn't be a noticeable change in HP.

    My $0.02

Thanks for posting the pictures !!!!!
