Well its been awhile , and was a little hectic around here but I have finally returned to the garage to build myself a NEW hotrod pickup...... I had picked up a couple of cars that had the backs cut off, in the last year, but finally found a legit pickup cab from newbie hamber TATTS in VEGAS. I called him and a deal was struck for $200, He is a cool guy and called it like it was..... JUST what I needed was another piece of ****. The poor truck was chopped 4", and done REALLY bad, so I got the cab back to WisconSin, and spent a couple weeks drinking beer and looking at it to figure out what should I do..... Well fast forward to FRIDAY night, and add a couple more beers... I got ballsy, I had 3 ****ty bodies, 2 frames, 8 doors and needed to create 1 good truck. I fired up the NEW PLASMA CUTTER, that I purchased with my NEW FOUND WEALTH, and got to work. first I cut up all the bodies, Remember the ROCKY BODY?.... and the other one that was in the woods for 40 years? well they are both piles of s**** now. I cut, burned, ground , and drilled spot welds all weekend and got alot closer. the cowl and rear is from the vegas piece, the frame is from the woods piece, and the roof is from the one I got from ROCKY for last winter. Thursday it will all get sandblasted, and it can be welded together. It should be almost UNDETECTABLE when its finished.... LUKESTER
more drilling spot welds and grinding to make this work, the roof and pillars are off a four door sedan
It will be worth it. Gotta love those Willys. I see a hemi valve cover there. Good choice for motivation. I will be doing the same soon. Keep us posted. I'm very interested in this project. There is a few of us up here in the Northwest working on coupes and trucks.
cool man, lots of work there! and i was really lookin forward to seeing that rocky body ressurected, that thing was rough!
Lukester, Is that your front sheetmetal? If it is that looks pretty decent. Here is my project lurking and I am getting the itch to start working on it.
Man that is awesome. You must have some huge balls to try something like this. Your progress is awesome. Good luck and keep us posted. I wish the beer down here could make you do something like this.
Now I see where "that thing I ordered you" is going. If your Chevy was any indication, I can't wait to see what you do with this!
