Does anyone know if steering u-joints were used in hot rods as early as 1950's. Any pictures of early installations would sure be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would think some of the earliest uses of u-joint steering shafts would have been on tilt cab trucks like the old White 3000 for example. Don't have any pics, however.

Borgeson got a US patent for U-joints in 1914. :D
So yes ... some early equipment had them :)

I'm pretty sure that **** Smith's 32 roadster used a u-joint to get around the hemi to connect to 40 ford cross steering. This was the early 50's built car from Arizona that ended up in the Henry Ford museum.
