Today I made the trip to check it out. The current owner purchased the car in 1970 from a gentleman that had purchased the car in 1956 from the original owner. The current owner was a kid when the original owner sold the car. The car hasn't been out of this garage since 1977 (yep, that's 32 years). When purchased, the original engine block was cracked. A later 59 AB flathead was installed. The car was stripped to bare metal and repainted in lacquer (in 1970). The car had never had or needed any rust repair. The owner has no children. Until today, he didn't have anyone wanting to purchase the car. Yeah, that would be me. He hasn't set a price, but I told him the truth about what cars like this can bring (high & low). I may have to put up "for adoption" one or more of my current stash, in order to bring this one home. By the way, the mileage shown on the odometer is correct! As for the location of the car, all I'm saying is "third rock from the sun!!". [IMG] Enjoy the photos, guys.

I told the owner that I was in "LUST" with his car and wouldn't sleep a wink. This thing surp***es anything that I even dared to dream about finding (any hopefully purchasing). He paid $1000 for the car, in 1970. I jokingly told him that I was willing to double his investment.

As for what the car needs to run - I doubt much more than a few hundred dollars worth of brake parts, belts, hoses, fuel system cleaning/replacement, a battery, and tires/tubes/liners.

Normally, I'm the SBC/BBC type of guy... But, I'd have to think long and hard about making many/any changes to this car - maybe Hallibrands or TTO American wheels. Of course after spending what I think it may take to bring it home, I won't have the funds for anything other than small changes! ;-)

Don't mind Frank(Fab32), he's old and kinda blurts out things from time to time when he's excited...

But I have to agree with him...you're pretty much a basturd...:)

...and I'm thinkin' that car would be north of 30 large.

Having the wrong hood and grill should allow for some barganing room, 75-100 bucks IMO. Thanks for being a standup guy and telling the current owner what the car is worth in 2009 dollars. Karma gods should be on your side.

If you changed anything on it I wil come over to your house an steal it. You know I know where you live! No halibrands or slot wheels. You can put those on the others.

I told him that $30-$40k would be the low side of the car's value. Hopefully, it'll will be priced within my range. I appreciate all the well wishes, as well as the humor. I wanted to tell y'all about how great this thing would be with a lot billet, air bags, burlap interior, etc, but I couldn't even do it jokingly. Keep wishing me well. Thanks, again.

I hope you get the car. And if the present owner is any kind of a decent guy, he'll sell it to you for a fair price after you were so honest about what it's worth.
Ironic, ya know, the first car I ever bought was a 1934 Ford 3 window, in 1953. Nowhere near that nice, had some rust and some cracks in the fenders, mechanical brakes and the original engine that smoked like a freight train.
The price I paid? SIXTY DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
