My Dad has been some property up north that he and my Mom want to build a house on. It has a lot of rocks on it, so my Dad bought a beat up old excavator a couple years back. But he's been looking for a cheap dump truck to help with the chore. We have known about this truck for years and knew it had a hydrallic dump and a 22,000 pound winch. So, a deal was stuck and he had a new truck. The thing was, it was parked in an alley, between two tight garages. It had room behind it to drive out, but beings it had not run in 10 years that was not too much of an option. My Dads overly long truck could not do it, so we used the guys wrangler to yank it out. It took some pushin and diggin, but soon she was out.

Flat towed it home with a tow bar (not too far away) and got it running. it has a Merc flathead in it. Everything seems to work on it. His plan is to get it mechanicly sound, put a metal dump box on it and use it as she ws built for. I have been dragging these 1942-1947 Ford trucks home left and right latley, so figured you guys might get a kick out of it.

The Northwest must be the place to live. Jailbar trucks are just ugly enough to be cool. The dump bed on that 36 is very cool. Those two together should be a good match.

Dryland farm country on that side of the state sure does have a good truck yield:D You boys better get yourself a bigger yard! Those pto winches are pretty cool too, I bet it'd lift that truck...

Nice that someone is putting these old warhorses back to work. I know what it is like to be put out to pasture even though there are a lot of good miles left in me.

Yeah, at 22,000 pounds it'd lift the house of it's foundation. Guy said it was used as a tank recovery winch in WWII. No idea what it was hooked too...maybe another tank?

    Great find!

My uncle moved up to basically the Canada MN border.. found a piece of land and built his dream home. To aid him in the task he bought an old Osh Kosh dump truck, case back hoe, and mobile home trailer frame. A summer in the garage and he had a running truck and trailer, with a running backhoe ready to go to work. Three years later and many hours of work he is all done!

Reminds me, My father decided to build a rental house on our property in about 1951.
He bought a model "A" 1 ton flatbed from a local Cheese maker. He paid $150.00, but he also got a whole parmesan cheese that we used for 20 years.
This was in Hayward Calif. I was about 9.

We went and looked at that dump truck with the neat box...it's a parts truck for the guys other truck he's restoring, so I'm sure he will part with it. He said to give him a couple days to figure out a price.

Oh, my Dad says he wants to paint it and ****...but he has a lot of other projects too, so who knows ;). For the main part, get the brakes working, get it running off the orriginal gas tank, and make it work for what he wants to use it for. All the lights and electricals and such work, so it should not be a huge job. Guy said he used it for getting firewood until 9-10 years ago.

That is one heavy duty hauler. Would make a great shop truck. Put a tilt bed on there with a winch and use to haul home more projects.
