51 Chevy Coupe -leave it alone or stripe it or????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Snegrah, Nov 28, 2009.

  1. Hey, just got the car back and love it but am thinking to stripe, scallop, or just leave it the way it is....thoughts? You know...It's a never ending mental journey with these things...

    Thanks,
    Tom

do both the black is too plain by itself,

big white scallops would really tie in with your air cleaner too

Some stripes would work but don't over do it. Just nice traditional lines on the black would do justice. good luck.

Some very simple pin striping would look elegant .

  15. heatmiser, Won't lose the diamond plate. It was JUST installed by a good friend and I actually, I like it.

Ian Berky, hmmmmm...gotta try a mock op of some sort...interesting...

others who are recommending subtle...I agree

    wetatt4u...love the 53. I've got another 53 coupe floating around. When I find the photos...I'll post them. The 51 is a 261 5 speed. The 53 is a 350, 700R, AC...bla...bla...bla...

    Thanks for the input fellas'

PINSTRIPE it!!! Really nice interior. Care to trade it for my 51 Business Coupe? NO? How about painting it then? Where/what Pacifica, there is one in Wa State. Butch/56sedandelivery.

How about painting the side white like an early corvette? Like the 52' amsoil car.

Really nice lookin' car, Snegrah! Ian's got a good imagination for subtle. Shiny black scallops would be cool. Clear would do it, wouldn't it? And I'd be tempted to stipe it with red to accent your engine, though white would stay totally in step with your interior. Again...nice coupe. - Rick

  21. I'm thinking of scallops (understated) but does it fit the stance of the car? Scallops lend themselves to a lowered car...no? And No, I'm not lowering it. Hell, I just raised it 1.5" in the front and 3" in the back from where I had it. Any thoughts on "teardrops". They fit the "rake" of the car...at least they did back in my day...way back....

  22. Very cool car. How about just dig it and drive it? Give yourself 500 miles behind the wheel as it is now and you'll know the answer to the question you've asked.

  23. Thom...good thought. Seeing I only have 30 miles on it. I will fix the little bugs, drive it and decide later....unless....

    Thanks all for your thoughts.

Hey Tom, wow man nice job on the coupe. The tugmaster did his car with some scallops and then he striped them. Maybe you've seen his car? He was a CT visitor also.

  25. I agree it needs something. Here are the scallops I did on my car. Sorry for the shitty pics but it does "make" the car. Todd

The scallops are metallic gold. They look about 1000% better in person.

The crest of your hood is begging for fine lines in either white, red, silver, or any combination of all three. I'd do the deck lid in the same manner. NICE ride! Good luck!

There is too much black in my opinion, I would get some lines pulled and i think it would break it up just right. I really like the scallops that BadLuck posted, they are just enough to bring your eye to them and break up the side of the ride, very tastefull.
