I'm building a 31 A coupe. I chopped it 3" and want to make the winshield not open anymore. What would be the best way to do this from anyone thats done this or is ther a kit for doing this. I've searched this form and couldn't find anything. thanks:)

    Why??

Early cars with open windshields are awesome!

    Just keep it closed?

Thats a really weird question. Windshield glass adhesive on the frame I guess. That way later on you can decide you want it back and just have to clean that stuff up.

Furthermore, I really am curious as to why you want to do that? I saw on the other thread you asked that guy if he was gonna make it shut permanent. I'm just reallly curious, that's all. I know this guy that thinks cowl vents are stupid and ugly. Can't convince him they're cool..

Let me get this straight. You have the ability to chop a 31 coupe but ask how to get the windshield to stay shut???

Mine was welded. I bought the hardware to make if swing. I never shut it. Old rods look way cooler with the windshield swung out. Just keep it shut if you don't like it. What's the big deal?

Never mind. It says his 31 is a streetrod. Everybody back to work.

I love the windshields that swings out. I loved it so muck after I sold my model A I made sure that my next "big" car had one.

I second or third or fourth the idea to just not open it! I would not buy one if the windshield had been closed off forever!

Dude, this is one of the great features, later cars lack. When it gets hot, you want to be able to open the windshield, it's a feature I wish I had on my Ford Expedition:D.
Keep it stock, and you'll have options.

My 28 Tudor has a 5 inch chop and the wind shield pops out. This is Henry's air conditioning and it works. Why on Earth you would want it to not open is unanswered but think it over.

I agree with everyone about it's the one of the coolest feature of the car. And I am probaly going to make it flip out like original because I like it to. just have to relocate pins on a pillers. But I saw another coupe done where the eliminated the original frame and used a rubber seal. It gave it a different look regardless liking it or not. I was just wondering how they did it and if anyones done it. thanks :)

i have done it before...i had a glass place cut the flat glass ..wrap a nice peice of black rubber trim around it and glue it in ...looked fine even though it didnt swing out ..served the same purpose just without the swing....any glass place that cuts flat glass can do it ...good luck

The opening without the frame doesn't look like anything that would hold a piece of glass safely.

And I'm still not even understanding the original question. You just want it to stay shut or do you want it look like a modern car with a big black piece of rubber around the edge?
