I acquired a 56 Chevy short bed step side for some airbrush work on the owners Harley. This 56 body has been sitting on a 1980 shorty ch***is since 87 but has never been bolted down. Anyone here running a 55-59 chevy pick up with this kind of ch***is set up? Any advice on things to comes?

sounds pretty gross. why don't you pluck that unbolted body back off of there and put the proper **** under it.

That was a popular swap back in the day, most were on 4 X 4 ch***is. The wheelbase is a bit short though, I thnk about 2 inches if I remember correctly.

If you don't want to make your own mounts, EZ Ch***is swaps has a bolt on kit.
If you go to the link below, he makes kits to put 55-59 Chevy trucks on Impala frames and a less expensive kit to put this body on the truck frame.

Sounds like pretty damned good advice to me...why would you recommend using a ch***is that's 2" shorter and looks out of proportion? Find a stock frame that some other ***** is throwing away for a frame swap, or better yet, trade someone for their stock frame so they can do a super cool 1980 frame swap on their truck...I'll take the stock ch***is any day of the week...

I had a 56 on a full size truck frame front clip but found the wheel base a little wide after driving for a while tires rubbed the fenders with hard turning. I now have a 55 project with a stock frame not sure about the front end yet as its a real back burner job.

My '55 first series pickup is on a '78 truck frame. The track width is too wide and the wheelbase is off by the two inches (short) mentioned previously. Ii bought it like that, and

Oops hit the enter key, anyways, I would not recommend using the truck frame.

There is a complete stock Ch***is sitting in the Yard at my Work that could be had.

Frame Swaps are the Demise of Many Cool Vehicles.

I'm not to keen on using this ch***is, I just wanted to get some feed back on it. I ended up buying a stock ch***is already to put under the 58 shorty GMC we have on the go. And finding these 55-59's in these parts is a bit tough. I have one more yard to call. I know he used to have a few of them kicking around
