I found a 49 Chrysler "spitfire" head and block today at my favorite junk yard. Id remembered hearing of them, but how rare are they? I can get the head dirt cheap, but it wont fit my flathead 6.
get it anyways and sell it for some profit...specially if you can get it dirt cheap! it will only fit the big block flathead sixes like desoto/chryslers and Canadian Plymouths.. all this have the 25" head. after cleaning it getting it magnaflux, and painted it will be a nice addition for anyone running that big flathead sixes. the biggest problem is finding one that is in good shape and usable!
if it's a six not really rare at all most of the chrysler engines from that era were spitfires....it was their advertising campaign....if it was an eight you might have something...
