Gost track in Indiana

Looking for information on an old drag strip in southern Indiana. Possibly near Croydon. It was an 1/8 th mile track with a barn at the top end, you had to go around the barn to get to the return road. Raced there in the early 70's with a G/SA Charger. Would like any information as to the name and location.

Are you thinking of New Hope Dragway? It's in Spencer, Indiana. It's 1/8 mile and IHRA now.

 

There was a drag strip called Harrison County in Southern Indiana 1/8 mile in the 70's. I think it is close to Corydon, Ind.

 

I think you are right on with the name. Does anybody have any information on the track?

There was a small drag strip in Bean Blossum Indiana. They had a yearly biker party you could run what ya brung. Probably 1/8 mile.

 

It was Harrison County Drag strip, near Elizabeth. 1/8 mile, Jimmy Troutman owned and built the track. I lived at Elizabeth until 1969 and knew Jimmy and helped talk him into building raceway.
He first only had enough money to asphalt 2 100' lanes, where we did burnouts and later got the 1/8 mile paved and shutdown was gravel.
I raced there until 1969 with a "55 Chevy D\MP and have great memories

Look on . kentuckymotorsportshalloffame.com There are some pictures of the closed Drag strip. It is in Elizabeth, In Harrison County Drag Strip. The black top laines are still there. I thin it closed in Early 80s.

 

I'm 12 miles from Elizabeth. I will go look and see if I can get some pictures of what's left.
