I talked to Steve Gibbs today who has been with the museum since it's inception and does not want to see it close. He says there has been much opposition to combining it with the Peterson by "people with clout" and he knows of no present plan to close the museum. That is certainly good news.............for the moment.

It sounds to me like this is all hogwash. Wednesday when attending the monthly Twilight Cruise I made it a point to ask 3 of the "higher ups" at the Museum. All three told me there is no truth to these rumors of closure.

    Just my 2 cents

Here are some photos I took Wednesday:

Twilight Cruise, Oct. 2009 meet. Held on the first Wednesday of each month, April through December. Held at the Pomona NHRA Museum Parking lot on the Pomona Fairplex grounds.

A little bit lighter turnout as it was a rather cool day and the show ended early because of lack of lights. Likely because the Fair just ended the Sunday before. A great show just the same.

    Approx. 240 photos

There is a place for the museum in Indianapolis which is a natural sight right on the grounds at Raceway Park . Indianapolis is a literal hot bed of museums & the addition of the NHRA on thier own property where so much of its history has been made in a part of the US that is still very much automobile intent would be a win-win for everybody.

  4. I for one would hate to see the museum close. However, I agree that Indy would be a damn good place for it. Most of the US live too far away to go to CA and see it. Indy is dead on in the middle. I vote it stays where it is, but if has to close or move, I vote move it to Indy.

I wonder how many of the car and exhibit owners would allow their cars and displays to be moved anywhere at all, much less to Indy....lets hope they don't have to cross that bridge..

To the people that start threads like this, do they have any real solid info before they start / continue rumors?

i quit keeping up with nascar when they went unibody...
    its not nascar anymore.

they did the same to nascar ,as if, nhra made it a rule you had to run nothing but say a camaro body..

the next thing they will do is have official nascar engines, you buy at the nascar store, along with your ch***is, transmissions, brakes rearend, and so on...

basicly their going to turn nascar into the iroc series of the past.. except it will be a car completely purchased from nascar..

i think all history of american motorsports needs to be preserved in someway...

if they cant afford to keep it open, maybe it needs to go to some en***y that can..

Call Bruton Smith he would gladly welcome the museum to Concord N.C. He already has the first four lane drag strip at the Z-MAX. Plenty of out of work nascar talent since they switched to the one car fits all car of tomorrow/today? Nascar will not have any more history the new cars all look the same.
