I have a '58 348 bellhousing i want to use behind my '60 283 in my roadster, will the starter clear?? Will throwout arms interchange with a STD 60's arm, does anyone repop the tin covers for the bottom??

I kinda want to run this bell 'cuz it is the only one i have that fits the era of my build, and i really like the look of it, but if it is a pain then it is back to hunt through the junk yard

Bellhousing should work, without any problems.

Cl***ic Chevy International sells the sheet metal covers. I know this isn't what you asked, but that stocker is worth a few bucks to a restorer. You could buy a blowproof with the $ and be safer. Just a thought..

Okay new question, a std bolting to block type starter doesnt seem to fit, so a 348 had the starter bolt to the bellhousing then? Can i just run one of them?

I'm lost on pre '60 sbc's and W block stuff, but know my 60's stuff pretty good

does it look like the 60s manual transmission truck starter would work?

You can use the starter that bolts to the bell as long as you have the 168 tooth flywheel.

just keep it in your head your messing with a chevy, not a f**x or m****, most every thing fits like series engines[ small blk,w-motors,big block ]trans, bellhousings, flywheels pretty much all fit except for a 400 smallblk,454 big blk balance situation.chevy had good stuff up until about 88-90
