Who's still got their first rod/kustom?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Gator, Nov 30, 2009.

  1. I still have my first rod..had it since I was born... and it got customized soon after. The guy didn't have much imagination, seems he's done thousands like it.

I think I'm going to keep it forever. I'd hate to part with it.:eek:

I would never think of getting another..

Ive had my 54 Buick for close to a decade, but since I got it when i was 13, It seems like a long to time a young punk like me. Its not goin anywhere...especially since I dont have a rearend in it at the moment. I just wish I had the pictures of it when it was green, bare metal, and then black, and then black again. all the stages pictures. But here is what its looked like since 03

  3. Bought this in 1968 (I was 16) and it's been stashed away in a shed since 1970.
    Paid $100.00 for it then.

I've had my 52 for going on 5 years now. I know it's a 4 door car and nothing special and wasn't necessarily my "first" car, but it was the first one that I've built by myself. I got it when I turned 18, so I consider it my first car.

I've owned probably 20 cars since then and they've all come and gone, but I've held onto my 52. I'll have it as long as I'm around.

I could have sold and traded it tons of times, but I've hung onto it.

I'm sure it'll have a lot of different looks over the years, but I'll keep it as traditional as I can. :D

  5. Still got my first car ever. Bought it in 1963 for $350 at age 21. That car did a lot of nice things for me and always got me home. I've had others, but always kept this one.

Don't know if this counts or is even HAMB friendly. I bought my Norton in 1967 and its been everything since then. This is it in '67. And at Bonneville (World Finals) this year. The gal was a keeper too. Still married to her.

my first hot rod was the first car I ever bought. in 1994 at the ripe ole age of 14 I found a screaming deal on a 32 5 window with the roof removed. still haven't got it on the road, but I'm about to start working on it again! bought it as a rough body and frame and got it all roughed in before I got into racing and spent as fast as I could. Finally got my head back on straight and recovered from my (speed) addiction so it's back to my first love.

My dad had a shop when i was growing up,he worked a trade out with a customer on my 1934 ford tudor,i was 13 years old, learned how to weld,do bodywork,ch***is etc. on her, drove it in my high school and have my senior photo with it (cl*** of 1994!)it still has my t***le hanging from the mirror, and i still own her today at age 35 and looks the same today as it did back then,,,,,,
She survived moving to florida, buying a house,2 kids, opening a business etc.,(she is not going anywhere),,,someday i will take her out of storage and redo the body,ch***is etc.,it was built with all junkyard parts of the day on a tennagers budget exept when i decided after high school to pro street it and turn a perfect hot rod into a worthless driving race car hence my name prost34,:(,,

Bought it in 78. Not really a rod or custom but my very first vehicle no less. 1950 F-1 with the famous 239. I got a frame off in 97 and I plan to keep it forever. A new set of wheel and springs are on the menu.

Not my first but maybe my last. I bought my 40 pickup in 1967 for $75.00. I still drive it every week end that the roads are salt free.

I laughed when I saw the ***le of this post and then the more I thought about it I do actually have my first hotrod. It's hard to believe but my fat *** actually fit into this thing once. I scalloped this side with Testors model car paint and the other side was flamed.

Still have my first hot rod...I've had it for almost 10 years now, and I put a lot of miles on it from 2001-2006.

Coming back from Southern California in 2004, the first small block threw a rod in Wagon Wheel, NM. I sat on the side of the road in this spot by myself for 11 hrs waiting for a trailer.

Put this new small block in it a few months later.

It's been running like a top ever since. I don't drive it as much as I used to, but still manage to get it out every now and then. It's getting to the point where it really needs to be freshened up...maybe I'll be able to get to it sometime in the next few years.

Still have mine...Dad bought it in 1977 when I was 14...backed it into the garage at 15, took out the 250/3sp/original rear, and installed a 265/3sp/55 car rear. Drove it every day to high school.

She's waiting for a complete rebuild now...

Still have mine, a '65 'Vette my dad / mom got for a wedding present. I drove it in High School. In fact I have every "Rod" I've ever acquired !! I'm too sentimental - I put all that work in one and would hate to see someone 'ruin' it. Still have : '71 'Vette, '67 Chevelle, '29 Ford Sedan, '50 Chevy Cabover (next project). Luckily for me my wife LOVES them ! I treied to sell the Chevelle to put in a pool -and SHE said "Never."

    '54 Chevy 150
    '31 Chevy Coupe
    '26 Ford Roadster

I plan on giving my '31 Chevy to my father in law this Christmas but at least it stays in the family.

i bought my 58 International when i was 11 years old and used to drive it around the small town i lived in to irrigate the fields before school. I'm 23 now, and have gone through quite a few projects and things but i still got my Intro. Its taken a back seat to my other projects, but someday she'll get the treatment and it will be long overdue.[IMG]
this is the only picture i got on my computer. ( note the hose coming out of the gas tank, no doubt siphoning gas to put into a "more important" project.

I still have my first car got it in 87 before I turned 16, not a rod or custom but unique . 72 Olds Delta Royale Conv. w/AC , nugget gold w factory w/ polycast wheels . only came with a 350 2bbl though, all show no go . never seen another like it even at Olds national events .

Myfirst custom, hmmmnot here but which one was it, 71 Lemans w/ 396 BBC or the 70 F85 w 403 TA motor , most stuff was built from junkyard parts til I discovered swap meets, couldn't afford anything new .
We had more fun in that 403 cutl*** and more street racers than I can count , saved lunch money all week just to race on wekends, ahhh the good old days , no wonder I was skinnier then :/
