Me and my husband "inherited" an old Snap On toolbox and we're not sure exactly how old it is or how much it's worth. It came with a bunch of very old Snap On tools, my husband said that some of the tools can't be used on modern cars anymore. There are old paycheck stubs in it from the '50's so we're guessing maybe it's around that age.

You might find the date to some of the tools. Snap On marked their tool with markings that show the year of the tool. I found a 1/4 set when I was young in a house my parents picked up in 1974.A few years back I asked my local Snap-on dealer what year it was.He said it was from 1957.Still have the set.

If you do a INTRO you might get some response..

Did you read the rules before you posted your very first thread?

Ooh By the way your pictures don't open to full size when you click on it..

The box looks beat up pretty good even in the small frame pictures ,

Is that pad lock going through the lid and FRONT of the box?

Is most of the hardware missing?

Can't really see to good in the pictures............

Yes, try the Garage Journal. There are several Snap-On collectors there who can probably tell you a lot more about the box.

Thanks everyone! I posted this question on the other thread that you gave a link for. Yes, it is in pretty bad condition right now, we haven't even tried to fix it up yet. We're not the ones that drilled the holes in the toolbox and put a padlock on it. We really need to clean up all the old Snap On tools that are inside of it, because there are a TON of them. There's even a really old spark plug still in the box.

My grandfather did a bunch of legal work for Snap-on when they first started up in exchange for shares of stock. He did really well with it! By the time I was old enough to appreciate it,he'd aged and sold out-I never did get any tools. :( Kind of like my mom throwing away my 50's baseball cards. I like old toolboxes, good luck with yours-still awaitin' your intro, though.
