Well, I've had my car BACK on the road for almost a year now. She's my first car. I'm the third owner and have had her in my possesion for fifteen years. She's no custom, nor is she a show car by any means, but she's my car. I've taken her out on numerous trips, mostly an hour or three away, mostly through central and southeast Texas...(not to allow myself to go too far out of rescue range)... But this past week, I finally pushed her the extra mile...(actually, about 2200 miles)... My folks were heading up to TN to see my grandparents and I had some vaca time to burn... Plus, I was in need of a mild adventure, so I decided it was time to break out the road maps and make my journey. She got there without any major issues...just a fuel pump issue, that was pre-existing... three quarts of oil later, seems the pin that holds the arm in place had backed itself out and was allowing oil to seep out of the housing body... replaced the pump and degreased the engine... made it back without a leak... By the way, if your ever traveling the between TN and MS, I recommend the Natchez-Trace Parkway...scenic, no commercial vehicles, smooth roads...found the drive I was looking for on that route... can't wait to do it again...
had the same problem the other day with my fuel pump on my 64 belair. I was tuning the carb in and then it coughed then nothing found the roll pin backed out of the arm, of all the things that can happen.
you can't drive those old cars that far...what would you do if you break down? lol. looks like a great trip. love that shot over the hood at sunset.
NO KIDDING! That's what everyone kept telling me...Led to more arguments than I could count...tool set includes a wrench and screw driver set, all standards, no metrics...and a couple quarts of oil... go figure... Also found a couple 'ol used car lots along the routes we took... Can't wait to head back with a couple bucks in my hands.
