did you guys see the 40 ford in Hopup with the SBC that had caddy valve covers?

He shortened a set to fit - fooled me for 3 days till I took a long enough poop and actually read the article

The motor is caddy blue with a caddy air cleaner - pretty cool

thanks Vaphead, thats all I wanted to know.
these valve covers are going on a 48 buick convertable custom that has a crate sbc that is centrebolt,we figured these would be better than running just polished billet ones.He is going to put the chevrolet script as seen on the ones above, similar to the early 'vette covers.
I figured I would get this response after reading the thread about the fake injection...but that fake inj did loo like a Lego set up.
I thought these were a good idea for making a centre bolt sbc look ok in a trad style car, unless somebody knows where I can get some finned valve covers for late sbc?

actually some guys on here might like this customer of mine...he buys street rods and turns them back into hot rods.Yes he has enough cash to do this but he has built quite a few cars, but due to ill health he now goes and buys a car with billet wheels etc, then puts steelies, wide whites etc on them

but then again, could that be fake traditional;)

I think it's a great way to poke fun at GM's "corporate engine" :)

After all, a LOT of stuff we do and have done on cars is at least borderline JOKE.

Like "fake" flames, fake quick changes, fake spotlights, fake shrunken heads on mirrors, fake scoops, monster weirdo shirts driving cartoons of our cars and then building the cartoon of the car...

In some cl***es, Louvers in trunk lids at Bonneville are only allowed if they are "fake" and blocked off and don't let air in or out.

    That reminds me...

I knew a Guy that wanted to adapt some Ford Cosworth DFV valve covers to his 351C.

I knew a other guy that had some, so I called him.

The Fake Valvecovers didnt get built because real Vintage magnesium formula1 engineparts are REALLY expensive...:D

Someone did a tech post for techweek that put old finned covers on a center bolt engine. They looked cool. The fake Olds jobs are like fake ****s...they're nice but I wouldn't get a set for myself!
(ok....if I had rack (fake or not) I'd prolly never leave the house!)

i haven't used them, but i would. i have seen them in hand off an engine. they looked very well tooled. i feel there is nothing wrong with running these on a center bolt (vortec) engine. like stated earlier, they look better than a billet set. now i would have to disagree with running them on an engine with a nice late-model tuned port manifold!

I guess it can't be worse than lance putting script chevy covers on top of the stock valve covers on his '57 chev...or putting corvette valvecovers on a stock 305...or billy lane putting them on his ****py model T with those stupid ricer mufflers hangin off the headers...we all do weird stuff...it helps us stay sane...

hemi valvecovers on a flathead is just wrong...but I still want to see how many people it fools...I love watching people tell their wives/girlfriends or kids that the old flathead in that model a is an early V-6...or watching them count the plug wires and count the header tubes and scratch their heads

Question for the valve cover police.

Are Offenhauser valve covers permitted on a nailhead, SBC or SBF V8 engine? The name on the valve covers doesn't match the engine.
